Tekkaman Blade 1:1 helmet.

I did some work on the brow today and added the drilled out sections on the temples. i also sanded to last ear and glued the connectors on it. I am going to get some primer tomorrow and see what else needs spot puddy. The last major thing left after that is to cut out the crystal forehead and back it with some card ready for the molding stage.

So i got around to giving everything a good 240 grid sand today. It is getting nice and smooth now. i also cut out the forehead crystal and added some filler and will sand it back tomorrow.

So it has been a slow week with most of my time taken up with my day job. I have done alot of fine sanding but it doesn't really show up in photos. Iam thinking of trying to build a Tekkaman Evil of the base helmet.

I got some primer spray paint today and sprayed the 4 parts that make it the Tekkaman Blade helmet. I found a few areas to patch and one final sand the i hope fingers crossed it will be time to cast this bad boy up.

So i got around to molding the forehead crystal today. I know its not the cleanest of molds but it does the job.

So i have just ordered some clear casting resin and yellow pigment. When it arrives next week i will start doing tests with how many drops of pigment to get it the right shade. I will post pics of my tests so you can see.

Hi guys i have done up 4 different shades of the yellow forehead crystal and i was wondering which one you guys like the best to match the anime pics attached.

I'd say somewhere between 10 or 15. Did you use a vacuum chamber? I'd like to cast some clear things at some point and I'm wondering how visible the bubbles would be.

The Schlitzie it is not vacformed but that is a great idea for the future is i do a production run.

Hi guys i used clear casting resin its just like normal fiberglass resin but it just drys clear. i have used the 15 test crystal and tried it on the helmet and it looks great.

So after a week of casting forehead crystals i now have 7. They are starting to look great i have half a can of resin left so i am going to keep casting till i run out.

So i have only made a few forehead crystals over the last week due to working a real job but there is progress.

I am hoping to pick up some silicone next week and start casting the ears and head.

Sorry for the late replay Eyeinthesky iam planning on doing a run i have got a few busy weeks ahead with work then iam going to cast everything up and do a small run of the helmets.

So some of my silicone came in today and i decided to start the process of casting the ears. i made a Lego mold wall then found out my supply of Plasticine i was going to use in the molding process went missing. so i have had to order some more. it should coming in on Monday so i hope to have another update next week. I also had to fill in to section because i realized they would get locked in the silicone and rip off when one of the casts are done.

So i thought seen as i have some spare time until the molding stuff turns up that i would cut the back of the helmet and put a spacer in it to open it up from 19 cm (ear to ear) to 23 cm ( ear to ear) so it can fit a lot more bigger heads. it will take me all weekend to finish gluing it, filling and sand. just in time for the molding stuff to come in next week.

So after blowing the helmet out i added the extra length in the neck fins and started casting the first ear.

The ears took a little more silicone the planned due to the curve in the ears. i will need to order some more silicone down the way to make up for it but it is good to see some progress.

* I have also started a new thread on Tekkaman Evils helmet who is Tekkaman Blades twin brother in the anime.

so i after the silicone had set after 24 hours i flipped it over and removed all the Plasticine ready for the other side to me molded.
