TDK/R batsuit cage/armory display 1:1 [cage construction stand-by/making gadgets]

Re: TDK/R batsuit cage/armory display 1:1 [construction started]

Yep, way more stable this way. Not as much as I wished, but I will get there once I mount the fake doors in the back.

Re: TDK/R batsuit cage/armory display 1:1 [construction started]

This is looking awesome! BTW if you sold these you would make a fortune.

Re: TDK/R batsuit cage/armory display 1:1 [construction started]

I'm interested in how this turns out. Would you offer up your plans for this?

Thanks for sharing your build!

Brad

Re: TDK/R batsuit cage/armory display 1:1 [construction started]

It would cost more in shipping than for the cage itself ^^ But I'll gladly share my plans once I'm done, so all the measurements will be correct and I'll have pictures to illustrate every step. Although I can already tell that the 300$ budget will be hard to respect.
By the way, I also started to model a rough, not exactly movie accurate EMP gun, but I fear the cost of 3D print it will be higher than what I'm willing to give for a display prop, even if I broke it in several parts to assemble myself (almost 200$ for half of the front part of the gun !)

Cant wait to see the final result of this, keep up the great work

Re: TDK/R batsuit cage/armory display 1:1 [construction started]

Damn, putting this together QUICK!
Are you making another costume to fill this, or will you be putting your own in there?

Re: TDK/R batsuit cage/armory display 1:1 [construction started]

Here's a pic showing the inside detail. What are your plans for hanging the suit? It looks like he has some metal rods that attach to the shoulders somehow?

Re: TDK/R batsuit cage/armory display 1:1 [construction started]

I currently only own half an arkham suit, but I should get my GCFX TDK suit to display in the cage in 3 weeks or so. I'll probably make a lightweight skeleton in PVC pipes or thin wire fence to hold the shape of the suit from the inside, and lock it in position with these two metallic rods coming from the top of cage, so the skeleton should allow the suit to stand on its own and the rods should just keep it from falling forward or backward. That is the plan at least !

Re: TDK/R batsuit cage/armory display 1:1 [construction started]

Nice progress! :thumbsup This is almost exactly how I had planned out in my head how I would do mine. Not sure I'll ever get to it now though. :lol

Will you do some kind of faux concrete finish to the top and bottom platforms?

Re: TDK/R batsuit cage/armory display 1:1 [construction started]

Very nice! Can't wait to see the cage with the suit inside.

Great job man;)

Re: TDK/R batsuit cage/armory display 1:1 [construction started]

Thank you,
yes I will try to make the two platforms look like concrete as close as I can. I'm still hoping to find some kind of special concrete-like paint, if such a thing exists, or I'll just make my own paint job. Speaking of which, I can't really figure out if the columns are dark brown or black ? In some pics I swore it was black, but in some other pics it looks more brownish... WHat do you guys think ?
Oh, and Coofunkcurly, I may one day not too far in the future (I hope) invest in one of your cape and linked belt, I'm not sure how good/bad will them be with my GCFX suit, but I'm pretty sure yours are better :D

Re: TDK/R batsuit cage/armory display 1:1 [construction started]

Currently doing the door frames but I have trouble locating a tight hexagonal mesh for the walls, chicken wire is too wide and what I was planning to use seems to have the proper size but it's a diamond pattern, not hexagonal. I'll keep looking, but I may end up using the diamond pattern one since I can find it easily. Won't be 100% accurate, but never said it would be ! Unless someone knows a European distributor of the perfect mesh wire ?

Re: TDK/R batsuit cage/armory display 1:1 [construction started]

Are there any other pictures of this display that show the detail of the cages contents?

Is the whole suit inside? Are the boots in there too? What weapons and gear are in there?

Re: TDK/R batsuit cage/armory display 1:1 [construction started]

This is awesome. I had ideas and contemplated doing this. Can't wait to see what you come up with. Great job and I will be following this with great interest.

Re: TDK/R batsuit cage/armory display 1:1 [construction started]

Looks great. We will have to get our armories together sometime.

This is great. I loved this way of displaying a batsuit from the minute I saw it. 2nd only to the Batman returns vault but unfortunately I don't have a cave under my house :(

Re: TDK/R batsuit cage/armory display 1:1 [construction started]

Really Awesome Idea. Looking forward to see it Finished. :D

Re: TDK/R batsuit cage/armory display 1:1 [construction started]

Wow thanks guys, I didn't expect so much attention :D And Gregday, that is an impressive armoury !
All right, I picked up the wire mesh I was talking about, I hope I made the right choice with it. Took a few pics after quickly taped it to the frame to have an idea of what it will look like :

As you can see, It's not accurate to the movie, but I'm fine with it. I did chose the must accurate size of the holes I could find though, because it exists in small hole size. I'll be done with the first door tomorrow normally !

Re: TDK/R batsuit cage/armory display 1:1 [construction started]

Sorry for the slow updates, I'm currently retaking some finals for next year, so I tend to focus on smaller things I can do quickly, like painting my batarangs I got today :
photo5rve.jpg

I'll post them painted this evening. My grapnel gun shouldn't be too far now, and I also ordered a couple of rubies toy belt for the back panel display.

edit : here they are painted. Still shinny from the not yet dry gloss coat. They could be smoother, but it's just there to fill the cage, the main attraction remains the bat-suit so I'll leave it like this. And I will probably order some more, 3 or 4 something like that. Also picked up some stuff to make mini mines.
