TDK: Harvey Dent/Two Face's Coin

Anybody order from this place? I did and still haven't received anything.

I know a handful of people that ordered from slicksilver (both their site and their ebay store) weeks ago and no one has received anything :(....However, they are mass produced in china, and shipped directly to the consumer, so you could expect a good 8-16 days for shipping.
I am really curious to see how these came out. When I first started my project I tried to save some money, cut some corners, and buy a few replica 1922 peace dollars from the many direct-from-china replica companies on ebay and was very dissappointed in the quality, lots of pitting and discoloration in the metal itself and the detail on the face was washed out and the text (LIBERTY, In God We Trust, 1922) was almost completely gone.
But I'm hoping their two face coins are more of a custom item and maybe newer/cleaner/not over-used molds. But like I said, no one has recieved theirs in weeks...so i'm going to wait it out before I buy myself a "clean" version from them.....please post some nice crisp pics when (if) you do recieve them!

I paid with paypal, so they have what is it? 30-45 days to produce something?
yeah, i'm sure (or at least hope) you'd have it in your hands by then, lol

how long ago did you pay? I think it was about a week and a half until my regular peace dollar order arrived

the other thing that worried me about that company is it looks like they have good feedback on ebay, but they've had something like 20 negative feedbacks and something like 45 or 65 neutrals in the past year, all complaining about quality and long shipping times, but they crank out so many thousands of orders it seems like that just cancels out the negative feedback. I've also noticed that every once in a while large groups of auctions are "won" by other chinese coin replica companies/sellers and vise versa. So maybe they are all the same company with different seller names....i dunno, the more i looked into it the shadier it seemed.

And the screen caps look like the exact ones I posted here, just blown up a little. Sure, they could have grabbed the same frames from the same source, but a that's a lot of coincidences...

My original post here:

Makes me think maybe one of them is a member here...

Oh, and they got the backside wrong, it should be flipped upside-down... From the pic in the mirror, it looks like they kept it the same way on both sides... But if it's really die-struck, that could be easy for them to correct.

Hmm... The picture on that site is the exact same picture used in the eBay auction for the Lassen made coins about a month ago... only they put their name in a watermark on it. I hope that site was legit. :confused

I got my coin today and I am BEYOND happy with it!!! The craftsmanship, color, weathering and weight are top-notch and far better than I was even expecting! I am one happy Gothamite! Thanks Pete!

Got the slicksilver today. Don't even bother. It does not shine up well at all and the detail is weak.

Let me just say that I'm glad everything was sorted out, I just received mine in the mail and I love it! :)
Thanks a lot, PTK!

Just got mine today and I am SERIOUSLY disappointed! Disappointed that I could only afford to get ONE! I don't know why, but four next to each other would be grand!
Great work Pete! I LOVE it!

If anyone else is interested please post in the interest thread! If there aren't more people that want the prop then this is probably the last week before i close up shop! you've been warned :)

I got mine yesterday, it looks good and I love the heft of it.

The back is a little darker than I was thinking. Any suggestions on how to clean it up a tiny bit?

Ummm...have you read this entire thread?

Jedi, were you referring to

Depends what you use to clean it, but I agree that polishing vintage coins is not generally a good idea from a collector's perspective. Plus, the screen-used coin wasn't pristine.

and

Cleaning or polishing would be a bad idea, not just from
a numismatic standpoint, but also because detail would be lost.
?

I wasn't sure if that went for PTK's props too

You'll have to excuse me. I'm an idiot.

I was thinking about THIS thread: http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=47362

where he explains that using acetone should do it, but you have to be careful so as to not mess up the protective coating.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go shove a Cole Haan size 10 loafer in my mouth. :redface

!!!!last day!!!!

Final warning, speak now or forever hold your peace.

today, Saturday, September 13th, 2008 is the LAST day to notify me (either in the interest thread in the junkyard or PM) if you want one of my Two Face prop coins.

Thanks!

I know I'm mondo late in replying (I was number 7 on the list), but have been without internet access for the past month. Anyways, just want to say that I got my coin and it's freakin' fantastic! Great job! :)
