Re: TASM Fitness Thread. Get your Spidey Physique tips on exercise and nutrition here

I'm 5'11'' 160 pounds and 16 years old. I got some fat I want to get rid of this year. I'm going to try to diet and go to the gym 6 days a week starting the new year. I know this thread is for spidey, but I want to look like Thor..;) Any tips on anything?

My personal advice would be to bulk like a boss and mix it w/a decent cardio workout once a week.

I wouldn't worry about macros, doing a 'clean bulk' or anything like that, just get the carbs inside you and lots of 'em!
Plenty of protein too, about 30g of carbs and protein per meal if possible. Try to eat every 3/4 hours if possible.

See above for my mass gainer shake if you want to take in those, you say you've a little fat you want to work on, cardio dude.
---

Lift a few times a week (6 times might be too many unless you're splitting the parts of your body you'll be working on), compound exercises mainly as they'll give you an overall gain in mass (don't hurt yourself).
Drink plenty of water and get plenty of sleep.

Re: TASM Fitness Thread. Get your Spidey Physique tips on exercise and nutrition here

maybe this should be a general bulk/gym thread?

Im working out for future deadpool/kidpool cosplay.
Lately I have been going about 3 times a week to the gym and alot of
hula hooping and long long walks.
Especially my arms and legs are getting toned again. :) so im happy.

After the holidays I am gonne try to get back to 4-5 times a week gym again
and go back to taking group classes.

I usually eat healthy thats why I can tone fast... but sadly lately I have been enjoying
chocolate a bit to much lol. ( I already barely buy milk chocolate,
most chocolate I buy is 70% cacao or 100% pure cacao I add to drinks. )

REQUEST:
PLEASE any tips on improving stamina.
I have very low stamina. ( and yeah I have even
gone to the doctor but they only take blood and tell me
nothing is wrong. )
SERIOUSLY I am not overreacting or joking,
even when I am toned and bulk as hell...
during classes I still can barely keep up with these housewife's ( who might
visit the gym like once a week. )
Cardio is hard for me, so are push ups etc.
I have no idea whats wrong with me.
Im taking siberian ginseng as an extra these days.
When I took a cycling class I could barely keep up
and the teacher asked if I was alright and he seemed worried.

Tips please

Anyyyyyy tips are welcome.

I really want better stamina so I can do more cardio and classes...

No.
I don't think there IS a perfect height for spidey. The character has been interpreted and drawn many different ways over the years, from very tall to fairly short, from slender to enormously buff. He's been portrayed by shorter actors and taller actors, stunt performers and live entertainers whose heads are all various distances from the ground. He is capable of being embodied in any number of different ways. And no fan of the character should be discouraged from honoring Spider-Man on the basis of the genetic hand they were dealt. He is for everyone. He IS everyone. He's one of our great shared cultural myths.

Stop thinking about whether other people will think your attributes are objectively the best for spidey, and instead just focus on making yourself the best spidey that YOU can be. How you can best embody the character and what it means to you. Because that's all that matters.
How you relate to, encourage, and honor YOURSELF.
So do that. Instead of fretting over a cm here or there.

60 120's. Sprint for 60 sec, jog for 120 sec...Couch to 5k also works.Burpees are a good total body workout.

Bravo for Lunaman! I'm happy to see that there are some who can step back from the need to replicate, and see the hobby for what it seems to fulfill- a creative endeavor in ingenuity, and a way for us to express how we perceive a cultural icon. The only way to be true to the character is to stand fast to your own. And that's what this thread was developed for- a place for like-minded individuals to optimize themselves and help each other to do so. We accept what we cannot change and become our better selves. Now, enough from the peanut gallery, and back to the fitness.

Its the New Year! Starting my new diet, getting rid of fast food, soda, and all the other good food I love... I'm defiantly going to need some encouragement to keep this going!;)

Hopefully that photo uploaded correctly. Well I guess this my first official post, but I'm hoping that in 6 months, I'll be ready to wear the Miles Morales Spider Suit I'm working on.

For muscle and mass, a good full body weightlifting program would be the best route. Pack on muscle in the arms, across the chest and back, and LEGS! Don't forget the legs.

For flexibility, I'd say check out some yoga, maybe Pilates (??), anything that can help you limber your joints and move a little bit easier.

Besides those two concentrations, I don't know if there's a "perfect" routine. A personal philosophy I have is to just stay active, try something different everyday, remain consistent, have fun and of course, don't hurt yourself, and the results will come.

EDIT: And cardio. Try some different forms of cardio, running, aerobics, plyometrics. Obviously I'm not saying do all of that but find what you enjoy the most, and like I said, the results will come.

Good luck. Eat good, work hard, and sleep easy. You'll get it.

Im looking to actually gain more muscle mass because I'm pretty slim. I've been training forever but just finally *got it*, like an epiphany and since early December, I've been seeing some good progress. I'm not anywhere near where I would like to be right now, but we're getting places. Haha!

Hey guys,

first of all, thank you for starting this thread. I never thought I'd find a fitness thread on a costume forum. I'm happy to have found one, especially since this is a community I have common interests with.

By any chance, anyone know a good fitness routiine that doesn't contain any/not too much leg workouts. I have a grade 2 knee injury so I can't run or jog, only stationary bikes. I want to lose weight (at least 20 pounds) before the TASM2 premiere because i want to wear my suit to the movie but I can't fit my suit too well at m.

Because of your condition I would say you should focus on your diet more than exercise. Going into caloric deficit alone can help you lose almost 20 pounds in few months. You can just eat less than what you are eating right now or you can do a split of 40% protein 40% carb and 20% fat. Stick to healthy food, and keep junk food and sugar intake to absolute minimum. Again everybody is different so play around with your diet. If you lose few pounds every month then you are on the right track.

If you have access to a gym, then try out as many machines as you can to see what fits you best. Avoid standing free weight or any exercise that put pressure on your knee. There are many machine that you can sit down and allow you to work out parts of your upper body.

Consistency is the key, you will get there but it will require time. Good luck!

Hello Quan Tran,

Thanks for the response. I'll look into it. Do you have any recommendation on a diet or what kinds of fat burning foods I should eat? I hear that if you eat 1200-1500 calories a day you'll lose weight (my normal is about 2000 calories a day).

Thank you for the encouragement!

No problem I will try my best to help you out!

Supposed 2000 calories a day is the amount of calories to maintain your current weight, then I suggest cut 500 calories and make it 1500 calories a day. Again you have to take many factors into consideration such as your level of active, your body type, your age. Like I said, play around with your diet to see what is the best for your body. First week you can do 1900 cal, second week go for 1700 cal and so on.

I don't know if there is a fat burning food but in my opinion, just eat whatever you want as long as it fit into your calories goal for the day (yes there have been many big debates on this). I know eating healthy foods is good, for example whole grain food gonna keep you full for longer, etc. At the end its all about individual's preference.

Also you might want to look into Intermittent Fasting. It is kinda extreme type of diet where you can only have 5-8 hours window of eating. Personally I have never done intermittent fasting and never will I guess...

Alright, I just downloaded a calorie counter app so I should be good to go. I'll have to find some weight training routine to work my upper body. I have no problem eating whole grain food but I guess since I've been eating a lot recently (holiday weight) I'm too used to eating beyond my 2,000 calorie norm but I'll try to minimize the calorie deficit at first.

Intermittent fasting does sound extreme. I believe I've done this before to get in shape for a competition but I told myself I'd never do it again.

Btw, this might sound like a silly question, but what kinds of work outs work the butt muscles? I really want to have a nice sculpted gluts when I wear the suit.
