Re: TASM Fitness Thread. "Shirts-off" Challenge Starts NOW for May 4th deadline!

Here is me, I started lifting about a year ago. I was 133lbs then and am 150lbs now with the same height (5'11") and the same body fat (between 6.5%-6.9%). I'm still trying to gain weight, cuz I'm very skinny, but it's a slow process.

DAY 1

Not at all. I'm not that far behind at 5'7 and 168 lbs. You CAN do it if you want bro. Trust me.

Here's some shots from a couple of weeks ago. Everyone's body is different but this gives you an idea of my dimensions and the suit.

I didn't see this thread until just now

A word of cation for you guys on your supplements.

A study was just published on Brown Rice and how arsenic levels are at their highest in this rice and all of its rice products, especially brown rice syrup which manufactures are now using in place of high fructose.... or until BR becomes more widely know for causing the same negative effects that HFCS did.

So just an FYI from an environmental scientist who reads way way to many environmental reports on foods. If you care, Jasmine and Basmati rice have the lowest levels of arsenic, this is due to how many times the product is washed during its processing. Arsenic is a naturally occurring element and its found world wide in every gram of soil, and thus where some of its coming from, but due to industrial runoff and a few other reasons the normal levels have quadrupled in the last couple years and the food industry is doing their best to keep the EPA and FDA happy about the levels being found in BR products.

I now return you to your web slinging and body honing thread!!

Its to bad there aren't more threads pushing for body honing to go with the costume threads, because it would lead to far fewer love handles and muffin tops in spandex at con every year...... nothing is worse than FATMAN suits. Even the best cape and cowl cannot hide the belly rolling over the bat belt. LOL

Spidey spandez is even more strict.

SO BRAVOOOOO!!!!!

Re: TASM Fitness Thread. "Shirts-off" Challenge Starts NOW for May 4th deadline!

I'm 5'8" 200lb don't know my body fat percentage but I'm not fat just a little chubby. I have a decent amount of muscle and at 185 would probably look pretty thin. Anyways I recently commissioned a Spidey4Fun suit and I REFUSE to look anything but bad ass in it. So I started a strict low calorie low carb diet and a daily resistance and cardio training gym session. My goal is 185 by the time I get my suit, and 165-170 lean by Halloween (my birthday) this thread Is awesome btw.

personall trainer gave these guidelines

All white carbs - bread, white pasta, potatoes, white rice, tortilla wraps, bagels etc are high GI. AVOID.Also, the only bread you should eat is wholemeal pitta. - nowholemeal/wholegrain/white loaf bread etc.

Your carb choices are ;SWEET POTATO
WHOLEGRAIN RICE
WHOLEWHEAT PASTA
WHOLEMEAL PITTA BREAD
(FIST SIZED PORTIONS)

Aim to put the following pointers into pactice:
1. ) Eat 5-6 small meals each day
2) Use, roughly, fist sized portions carbohydrate and palm sized portions of protein in each meal.
3) Eat "healthy" fat in your diet (fats found in fish, olive oil etc -non-saturated). Saturated fats turn solid at room temperature, healthy fats stay oily.
4) Chose unprocessed foods (i.e if it didn't exist 10,000 years ago in roughly it's current form, don't eat it)
5) Use low GI (glycemic index) foods.
6) Don't become obsessed and pedantic about precise ratios of macronutrients, counting grams etc (honestly, in the real world, who could be bothered)?
7) Understand the very real advantage of using quality supplements!
8) Use Creatine Monohydrate!! No other supplement has as large a body of evidence behind it, creatine works!
9) Drink plenty of water. No limits on water intake!
Your protein choices are: LEAN WHITE MEATS (CHICKEN, TURKEY)
LEAN FISH (SALMON,TUNA, COD, HADDOCK, MACKERAL ETC) whole, not battered or in breadcrumbs oR drowning in a buttery sauce!
Avoid red meats as they are generally highly processed however you can have a steak once a week. Its full of protein, and low in carbohydrate.

Eat as much low GI veg as you like.
Low Glycemic Index Vegetables (under 20)

Asparagus
bean sprouts
beet greens
broccolicabbagecauliflowercelerycucumberlettucemustard greens
radishesspinachwatercress.
Medium Glycemic Index Vegetables (20-60)
AuberginebeetsBrussles sprouts
chivesleeksonionsparsleypeaspepperspimentopumpkinstring beans

"Eat six 6 meals a day" does not necessarily mean 6 sit down meals a day. Every other 'meal' will be a snack, high in protein, to help keep the metabolism ticking over. This way, by eating sensible portions MORE OFTEN you will actually burn more fat.
A snack can be a protein sake (mixed with water) with a handful of raw nuts (cashews, pistachios, pine nuts etc) or a piece of fruit.

Only milk to drink was skimmed. ie no semi-skimmed, no full fat.
It is important to stress the important of supplements in your diet.(mainly protein and creatine).

In the spirit of 'saving the best until last' I'll remind you that you do have 1 cheat day per week. There is no limit on type or quantity of food that you eat. This proves to have a great psycological effect and is a real incentive to be strict with your diet for the other 6 days a week

I would advise to plan your meals ahead, and where possible cook in advance. Always have a full fridge and have access to the foods you need!
I would also recommemd reading this once a week or print it out and have it displyed in your kitchen. It does help in recapping regualrly on what you should be eating.......

A typical day of the diet could look like this:

Meal one:
3 egg whites, one egg yolk
bowl porridge
Pint of water

Meal two:
Banana and 3 rice cakes (with honey or peanut butter)
Protein shake
Pint of water

Meal Three:
Chicken Breast/tin of tuna/other lean meat
and brown rice/whole wheat spaghetti
Pint water

Meal Four:
Protein Shake
Tuna/chicken salad
Pint water

Meal Five:
Chicken Breast/tin of tuna/other lean meat and brown rice/whole wheat spaghetti/sweet potato with veg- broccoli/lettuce etc
Pint water

Meal Six:
Before bed protein shake, with skimmed milk if you prefer or cottage cheese

also only supplements i used where creatine and whey protien

hope i helped

good luck with the weight loss guys and lets rock those spidey suits :)

Re: TASM Fitness Thread. "Shirts-off" Challenge Starts NOW for May 4th deadline!

I've been following a lot of TASM build threads and I actually became interested in creating a suit myself. I'm 6'6" 189 lbs, 22 years old and have a body fat percentage of 14%. I wondered if my height would be a problem, since I'm going to the gym a lot. Personally I think not, since I did a Ezio Auditore cosplay which a lot of people gave me credit for being awesome. I was just wondering what your opinion on this case is.
(Sorry if my English is a bit rambly, it's not my mother language)

@ gerryc00, good info! Thanks a bunch. I'm currently eating 3/4 of steel cut oats in the morning, I'm hoping that falls somewhere in good carb land lol. Nice Sparten suit too, you really pull it off. Congrats and we can't wait to see your Spidey!

Re: TASM Fitness Thread. "Shirts-off" Challenge Starts NOW for May 4th deadline!

Guys I just rowed for about 2000 meters and jogged for around 15 mins. Threw in some chest and abs for good measure.

I had an omlette this morning and a bowl of oatmeal with raisins and am now having a protein bar. What say ye'?

That sounds great. Two foods you should really try to get everyday are kale and quinoa. And to all the guys that need to build mass fast, DO DROP SETS. An example would be bench pressing 200lbs to failure, then immediately taking it down ten pounds and do that to failure. Then just keep going down until you cant take it anymore or you hit 0 pounds.
