Re: Russrep Machined X men origins claws! RUN IS A GO!!!!!

I'm going to sound like a broken record but what will be an estimate date of receiving the claws?

Re: Russrep Machined X men origins claws! RUN IS A GO!!!!!

Hi guys I am just working on the palm part now, I nees to make the prototype first .
These will come with an alan key as well so you can un do them.
These parts are taking a long time as I do not have any drawings for the palm part all I had was a resin claw to work from.
Please hang in there I will get these done ,
Russ

I posted pictures of the real palm grips used in the movies, so you could see how they are made. :confused I think we where all hoping for better photos also. Only because you told everyone you would post some after the weekend.

No problem I'm still new on here so I'm still working on how to post photos.. :wacko

Re: Russrep Machined X men origins claws! RUN IS A GO!!!!!

Do all of the claws have that bad flat arch line at the end to the bevel on the bottom bevel?
and the loss of the hard edges on everything.

Since your telling us that if we don't like the mirror to knock it down with sanding
then why can't I just get them unpolished so I don't loose all of the hard edges that
are supposed to be there because this looks horrible just like the sideshow which looked nothing
like the screen used claws because of over polishing.

Here's a better example of what I mean.

Your bottom bevel seems to stop short of the original hero claw. (Blue Line)

Your bottom bevel looses its arch and becomes a straight cut in the middle of the blade instead of a smooth arch
that the hero claw has. (Red Line)

Please tell us this is a prototype cut and not a finished ready to ship claw, because if it is, then we all waited two years
for you to not get it right and I for one signed up because it was being sold as accurate to the original claw you were provided to match, you know the resin one photo'd at the beginning of this thread back in 2011. You know, this one

DSC00060.jpg

So please tell me its the lighting, or the angle, or the camera or the over polish (even though the bevel doesn't rise high enough to be over polished out) or something!!! Please give us hope that we haven't wasted two years of our prop life waiting for these only to be disappointed because you couldn't match the originals.

If you can't get it exact to the original than lets get the original over to someone who can silicone mold it and resin cast it and
then we can all wait another two years for that but at least it will be worth the wait!

Them are the same things I asked about in an earlier post. I just did it a little more politely lol. Your pic isn't showing for me funny I did the lines and everything just like you and none of them are showing....

Re: Russrep Machined X men origins claws! RUN IS A GO!!!!!

That is how the final claw will look, I did discuss this with Bowelock and posted these pics a while ago.
At the moment I am nearly ready to throw the towel in and start refunding deposits
BATS its prob best if I refund you your deposit as I dont think I will be able to match what you want.

I will be PMing every one on the list to ask them to check the prototype blade to see if they are happy and still want to go ahead with a set.

Thanks
Russ

So are you admitting that the claws you are making are NOT accurate to Bowelrock's supposed screen copy like originally stated it would be?

Re: Russrep Machined X men origins claws! RUN IS A GO!!!!!

I don't know, they look almost identical to me. I'm not sure if the polished finish makes it look weird, but they look pretty much what I expected them to. I guess I'm still in.

Re: Russrep Machined X men origins claws! RUN IS A GO!!!!!

Here's the thing Russ, you can't offer to refund us after two years and think that's the solution. 20.00 a set isn't
going to cover our deposit + two years that we gave you in anticipation of excellence.

I'm sure if the position was reversed, you would be saying the exactly the same thing.

And I'm pretty you'll find more than half of us feeling that way since there are semi accurate metal claws on ebay every
month for about 75.00-150.00. They seem to get the bevels closer than you did and they probably came from a no name machinist not RUSSREP Replica's.

Accuracy on the shape was the most critical aspect of this deal, not the finish, so I'm not even sure when sending them for mirror polish came into play.

It sounds to me like you bit off so much more than you could chew and instead of coming to us very very very early on (say about a year ago) to say that you couldn't get the bevels right and that you either needed to have all new blades cut so they had a hold down and because of that the cost would have to go up a little bit wee or that you couldn't do it all, then we could and would have stood behind you and understood.

I suspect for some time you've known these wouldn't be accurate at all. In fact the project probably went wrong the minute you had the blanks cut without ever having completely a single claw to spec to know that you could even take on the project. Not sure if you were pressured into it, or felt obligated or whatever, and 2 years later its very tuff to find acceptance of any other fact that this went wrong and you tried to cover that fact. That explains why you didn't post photos of anything until the last second when its already to late.

There are so so so many amazing artists here with diverse backgrounds in almost every field imaginable, and we could have easily banded together to help you find the right way to get these made. Perhaps pride prevented that from happening. I know that every time I let my prided get involved it ends up costing me 500-1000 dollars. LOL

So now, you need to cinch up your boot straps to get these corrected even if that means starting over from scratch, otherwise you need to walk away from offering anything ever again to salvage your reputation. That's what being an artist and business man is all about. Dedication to your craft and to the customer.

So please, tell us we didn't waist our time, money and faith in you and that you can make this right and get us what we signed up for.
