Tackling my second Coyle metal kit build!

I'm actually surprised how fast this one is coming together!?! I really didn't realize it would go this fast!?! I'll be done by Sunday or Monday!!! If this one turns out I might keep it but I doubt it... I can always build another!...

I'll be a bit more descriptive when I'm in the final dancing stages and the dying etc before final assembly... the ammo clip wiring is what I'm dreading the most! I think I got it but am not too sure? Rich's instructions for the wiring are not the best...

OK...I'm just about done fitting all the parts together...a few tweaks tomorrow then I will disassemble it, sand it, buff it, dye it and rebuff it again until I get the desired finish I'm looking for! So til then if you got any questions feel free to ask! Thanks for looking and a quick shout out to the admins here...thanks for your hard work...til tomorrow...cheers!

Here are all the parts after sanding with 220,320,400,steel wool...

Here are the parts after a quick buffing...I then treated them with Jaxx pewter black dye...after you rinse the parts off..BE SURE TO WEAR GLOVES W/JAXX, VERY DANGEROUS CHEMICAL!!!..then buff the parts down to the desired finish...and the final assembly before painting the parts black that should be black...then its on to the ammo clip...the one pictures is NOT the one I'll be using...its an old cracked one I had until it shows up...enjoy! Thanks for. Checking out my build! Cheers!

A quick comparison between my modified OW blaster and my recent...unfinished....Coyle metal kit...and yes, that is a Haliburton briefcase full of replicant files under them...

On another note...I am sorry I didn't include buffing photos of the parts going from black to polished, nickel looking parts!? My hands were in gloves covered in black pewter dust and I did not want to get that stuff all over my phone or camera!
I use the red scotchbrite roads for metal to get the black down to the nickel type finish I'm looking for, then I buff the parts out with a Dremel....

Thanks for posting this thread! It makes this build much less daunting. One quick question about the threaded inserts, how did you go about securing them into the grip frame? Do they themselves screw into a pre tapped hole? Or are they a friction fit that essentially drop into place?

subscribed. :)

I have one of these arriving in the next 10 days, your builds been extremely informative, don't worry i shall be asking many an annoying question ;) :)

Top work!

Thank you...no problems with questions... the main thing is to not rush through it..take your time and make sure you have good tools... especially files, sandpaper and a good set of drill bits. Rich uses numbered bits but I just measure the screws with a set of dial calipers and chose the appropriate bit...also, be sure to have a good tap and die set too as the pewter is soft and must be threaded well or it strips out and then you're in trouble...

Would you be willing to maybe take a photo of your workbench showing all the tools you have? and maybe a quick explanation of why you use it? I've lots of experience working with plastic and resin kits but this will be my first metal kit

I have a thread called "My Blade Runner Workshop" it shows a majority of my tools..mainly you'll need a drill or preferably a drill press, a good set of files or two, dial calipers, a set of small screwdrivers and a good set of Allen wrenches... after you'll need 120, 220,320 & 400 grit sandpaper as well as 0000 steel wool. Also, get some red scotchbrite pads for buffing...for dyeing the metal use Jaxx Pewter Black but be sure to wear gloves and a respirator that chemical is nasty stuff...

Awesome dude thanks, I just ordered a new Dremel and Pilar stand for it in anticipation of the kits arrival, I need to get the dies ordered too
