T1 and T2 Endoskeleton Research Thread

Well, did the last few toes. Decided to show a comparison between the T1 and the T2 variant. I didn't include the T2, as it is mostly similar to the T1 except for the bottom fork being wider on toe 1 and 2.

T1 to the left. T2 Variant in the middle. Another T2 variant with shorter little toe option that I have seen in some props - replicating an actual foot shape.

LOL... just noticed I included the wrong placement screws at the toe fork of the second toe for the variants in the picture above. They are the correct placed ones in the uploaded models.

Don't know if I ever linked my Thingiverse profile. Anyway, with the feet currently done, I'm gonna take a break from 3D modeling for a bit and get some regular sculpting done. :)

Thanks for sharing! I just wish someone with your eye for detail would do the hand and arm. Or the rest of the endo :p

I spent almost 2 hours today following posts from FB and the old endo builders forum trying to find stl files for an arm. It’s amazing that there was a dedicated forum for something with active members and absolutely zero files are still available. Sad.

That forum closed down before 3D models really became a thing. Only at the very end, when member participation was almost gone saw the start of anything 3D model or scan related, but nothing came of it. Btw: how can you access posts on EndoBuilders? The site is gone.

I replied to your pm regarding a good arm model.

Thanks for your comments, but I sadly do not have the skills to 3D model the hands, nor the rest of the endoskeleton, but we may show something soon though.

Regarding files... the free ones are hard to find good ones, but some of the pay ones are pretty good.

EDIT: Found this one, which seems decent, but it's lacking detail on the shroud near the elbow, and I don't know how accurate it is - he uploaded it as an .stl file though, so you would probably need Meshmixer to split it apart (Further EDIT: it is 1 single file, so it cannot be split... so this one really doesn't work. I'll alert the uploader of the issue):

Incidentally I also found this game rip Genisys endo model:

Yeah, looking at the hand model next to the Antoine Fleury modeled one, which used to be up on Thingiverse, and was purportedly modeled after a licensed Endo arm, it is clear The Serial Scientist one isn't that dead on accurate. Wish the Antoine Fleury one was still up on Thingiverse, as that was the best one I have seen available for free.

Again, never really studied the hand, so don't know how accurate the claim Antoine Fleury made was, but it has the proper heft and look to the parts. Wish I could search for uploaders on Thingiverse.

Thanks for all this Carsten. I honestly think you DO have the skills for modeling the hands. I’ve seen all your work and I think you underestimate yourself. This thread proves that.

I’m trying to dig up some old photos for you of that Endo I posted. It resides in the Tomenosuki shop in Japan. From what I remember the owner is a good friend of James Cameron and he gave him the Endo after T2. It’s been shown off at a few shows in Japan as well.

I’ve also got to dig up some pics of a T1 Endoskull I missed out in on eBay. It’s a very special skull and I was devastated I missed it. I’ve never seen one like it before.

And thanks for your vote of confidence, but I'm not yet skilled in advanced shapes. I need to train a lot more to get that kind of modeling done.

Btw: as something completely unrelated. I just noticed a glitch in the world. An old lady down on the street outside my window walked as if she was at x2.5 speed. Looked really weird.

No that’s not the skull I missed out on. The one I missed out on was a full skull kit offered in an 85’ con event made from the original molds. It had the inner eye sockets molded separate as the originals were plus many other features from the T1 skull I’ve never seen before. The original colour resin also. It shocked me and I missed it. If I got hold of it I would have made molds and copies for all us die hards.

Oh cool. Yes, you've piqued my interest now. Would LOVE to see that.

If you still know the seller ID and he's still around, maybe it could be an idea to contact him to see who he sold it to and have him contact the buyer to hear if he still has it and may be willing to sell?

You’re welcome buddy. I enjoy all your Star Wars work also.

That old lady glitch sounds weird. I’m a big reader on the theory that we live in a simulation. Not sure I fully believe it but it sure is compelling. ;)

You can see on this skull that the eye sockets are intended to be cut out and replaced by separate casts. They obviously couldn’t cast as one piece effectively back then.
