Don't understand why I didn't see it before. It's clear as day in these pictures:

I'm an idiot. I really didn't have time for this, but I couldn't help myself. The new toe is not done, as I went back and forth several times before I landed on the basic shape. This looks like what I'm seeing in the reference. Now I just need to cut the sides of the part that connects with the fork piece. I also angled the big toe fork piece to about 10% less tilt as the other toes, and it looks good to me, so I will save what I've done so far and will have to stop working more on it until next week.

The toe floating out by itself is the old big toe.

Okay, getting frustrated by the reference.

One shows toe 1 has a longer fork piece, while another says it has a shorter one similar to the LFS version.

Some shows that toe 2 has longer forks than 3-5.

Another shows that toe 2 and 3 have longer forks as well as longer thin parts that connects to those forks, than 3 and 4.

Others show that they are of equal length, but some show the forks to be long and other show them to be short.

Some show the toes being different sizes, while others show 2-5 being of equal size.

It's driving me insane.


This is how it is done on the T1 hero I showed back in post #101, so I'm only using that for the T1 reference now:
Toe 1 - longer fork.
Toe 2+3 - longer fork + Longer thin parts connecting to the fork
Toe 4+5 - Shorter fork + Shorter thin parts connecting to the fork.

Now I just need to settle for a style for T2. Any suggestions? Should I do the short versions and even sized toes for T2?

You should go with the HA pics you posted. Design/look is more pleasing than any others.
You're doing a great job at getting all of those hand digits accurate; you'll do an equally great job at figuring out the toes

Okay. The HA one seems to be similar to the T1 version... I think.

Though... I haven't worked on the hands, though.

Thanks guys. Min mind is shut, so I'm going to take a break. I had gotten a lot longer than shown in the picture, but then I realized I was working with the wrong toe models... so had to start over. I stopped at a point where I got the new toes lined up and scaled to what I'm seeing in the T1 and the HA reference.

I have also shortened the first toe, so it doesn't sit so far ahead of the others... but that may change back later.

Then I'll cut the sides where they connect with the fork pieces later and open up the pin or screw holes - which I had spent most of today doing and almost being done, before I realized my blunder.

Being the oddball completionist... and since I already modeled the pieces I'll probably also offer the short fork versions.

But is it just me or do all the other forks I didn't bevel also look like they have a slight bevel to them? The bottom ones and the forks holding the toes? I think I'm officially losing my mind on this project. It's kinda fun.

Attempted the bevel on the lower piece to see how it looked. I think it looks pretty good compared to what I see in the reference. I may be off... but I think I'll go with the bevel for the bottom forks as well as the forks connecting to the toes. I gave them the same bevel amount as the top forks on toe 4 and 5, as it may be the same part used for those on the originals. If not... well... it looks right.

I finished the toe, new screw heads, resized the backing screws and did the bevel on the bottom fork. Now I just need to bevel the T2 version bottom fork as well as the toe fork, and then fix the detailed end part of the main piston and that is SWS toe number 1 done.

Okay. Finished the first toe. I also finished the variant I see in some T2 props and castings. Cannot guarantee these are 100% exact. They are based on what I see in pictures and is not based on measurements like the LFS version of the feet were. But they are as close as I can get them with the current reference I have available. Whole set consists of 21 individual models.

Updated the picture to better show things off, as I felt it was a little confusing.

The issue with the variant is that it doesn't look like the thin part of the toe connecting to the fork was shortened... but... it if is the same length as the one attached to the long fork... then you won't be able to move the toe very much, as the corners at the bottom will hit the surface of the fork piece pretty quickly. Pretty weird.

Works fine for a display piece, but not for a functional foot with movable toes.

Second toe done. Found some issues with the first toe, but it's the hole positions on some of the parts, so nothing major.

Thanks for the updates, TMG. It's fun to follow the progress.

To the untrained eye it's hard to see any differences in these toes. Could you briefly point out how they changed them from T1/T2? And what is the definition of "T2 variant"?

Well, the difference I've found between T1 and T2 was the bottom fork being wider on T2. The T2 variant is just a shorter fork holding the toe, as well as the toe itself being shorter.

Though... that variant castings also shows that toe 2-5 are the same size... so I may exchange the variant toe with the one I make when finishing toe 5. So maybe I should do toe 5 next... so I have the variant toe size for toe 2-5 ready when doing the rest.

Rechecking toe 1 I was mistaken regarding the hole position issue, but I found another small mistake that has now been corrected. YAY.

Fifth Toe done. There is a variant out there that has this toe be much shorter and much more anatomically accurate to how the human foot is. I can see if I can find the reference and see if I can post it here for people to see. I didn't model that variant, as I didn't check it out closely enough to get the model right. I'll do that eventually. Anyway... I'm going to go rest now. Not feeling too well.

LOL... I thought it went by a little too fast. I'm not done at all... LOL... I just loaded up the model, rotated a few parts, did the modeling on the toe bit... and thought I was done. I completely forgot the beveling part of what I had to do. LOL.

Sorry to disappoint. I'll see if I feel up to working on it later today... or maybe tomorrow. Sorry.
