Gone but not forgotten.
Ok, I know many are not happy with CAPRICA.. Gotta' say
I'm getting annoyed with it too... :lol

BUT THIS I hope will change things up...

Bad news for Caprica: Syfy making another BSG prequel

Always said that after BSG they SHOULD have gone to the
Cylon war for a new Series ! Now I hope they don't FRAK it up
and we get a good Movie and hopefully a green light for a new
series ! :thumbsup

Caprica is still promising to me, though I think they went too far back and are now cheesing the timeline; the implication of the new trailers is that the Cylons are going to rise up by the end of the season... which I didn't think the Cylon War lasted that long.

I wouldn't mind seeing more of Husker's adventures aboard the Galactica, but I think what I'd most like to see is more of the Old Earth where the Cylons came from and see more backstory from that end of things.

But maybe that's just me. :)

I'm just not getting Caprica. I watch it and I'm still not sure what's going on... just seems to muddy, too many directions. I usually don't mind lots of plot and character driven stuff, but this just ain't working on a few levels...

caprica is a dead concept.

started interesting but its becoming clear they don't know where they're going with this,.

trying to turn it into some sort of metaphysical exploration of h umanity, robotics faith etc does not make for interesting television. Novel yes. TV no.

the webisodes showing a young husker during the cylon war would be far more interesting but the budget would have to be huge for all the space battles. but frak it, do it.

show the beginning of the war with the colonies getting their butts kicked. then the colonies coming together, etc

plenty of scope there for action, politics etc and have a good pacy story.

Love it - want to see more of this period with all the homage to the original shoe Mk II vipers vs cylinder raiders that look like the manta ray ships!

If this is close to BSG in execution, then I'm onboard for it. Can't wait to see it...

Awesome-sauce.

Although, what I'd really love to see is a Final Five miniseries. See how it all really got started.

Caprica is too sloooooowwwwww. They can easily combine 3 shows into 1. It may have some merit but they just drag it out. Should have been a 3 part mini-series at best.

i remember when they were pitching CAPRICA they said "its nothing like BSG, not an action space show, but a planet based character drama"

yeh thats a good idea....... find a formula for success.... then do the ass-backwards opposite of it and act surprised when it sucks....

I want to see a series about the first earth they found that was taken out by a nuclear war and that cyclon uprising.

This is all I get out of Craprica....

Everyone smokes.

Everyone drinks.

You have gang wars contrived of a bunch of old men.

Whacked out religion.

Oh, and sometimes, there is a robot in it.

That's about it.

Caprica needs to just go away.

The new prequel sounds interesting. I actually don't mind Caprica, but they had better reign in some of the plot that's starting to unravel, or it's going to lose many more.

A recent thread complained about the endless number of remakes and reboots and general lack of originality in Hollywood. Yet here we see people lambasting Caprica for changing the formula that made BSG work and trying something new.

SF Fans are a funny lot. If filmmakers or producers change a thing we cry bloody murder, yet we constantly decry the lack of new ideas.

I actually enjoy Caprica primarily because it is NOT like BSG. It's nice to get away from "Kara Thrace and Her Special Destiny" for once, although I fear this will soon be replaced by "Zoey and Her Special Destiny." I'm really interested in seeing how the Cylons come about.

Blood and Chrome sounds pretty cool, so long as it sticks to the war and stories. No more mythology.

However, there are limited opportunities for world building in either of these series because the period is already well established. A series set on ancient Kobol would have enormous potential.

Does yet another prequel series to Battlestar Galactica - which I find to be TV at its finest, and at the very least was highly acclaimed - water it down?

I think Caprica might be drawing out what was a great run for BSG. Granted, it's looking like BSG and Caprica have little in common... outside the obvious. A Husker series, I would guess, might try to follow the original series (not the 70s series) a little closer in it's make up.

With Brian Singer poised to potentially do another remake of BSG, is SyFy milking the series too far? Is it trying to get their money worth? Even if Blood & Chrome is a great series - does it still detract from what is arguably an amazing series?

I hope they're not turing this is into Stargate. I don't even know where to start with that - because there are so many different Stargates. Granted, it might be a great series - I wouldn't know because I wouldn't even know where to start; seems there's a million versions.

I'm cautiously optimistic. But, I'm a little worried - afterall, I can take leaps of faith, as I did with BSG - I can accept a good deus ex machina. But, making Adama's father a key part of the creation of the Cylons is more than a little far fetched. ....and to see the rise and rebelling of the Cylons happen so quickly also seems a little too much.

I like Caprica, because even though I generally see where it's going, they still surprise me. Heck, this week we just had the first Deaths by Centurion.

But a new series based on the war? FRAK YEAH!!! Bring on the Models Baby.

I thought it would have been interesting to have Caprica more about the development of AI, and the religious implications. The monotheistic groups on the different planets being more of the terrorist groups, trying to "spread the word" , all the same time, AI being developed in secret like the skunk works, and the toll it takes on the family of the lead developer, and how he literally can't bring his work home. More espionage involved with people trying to expose the AI, and finding out in the end, the Cylons were built as an "enforcer" army to prevent a civil war among the planets and stop the spread of the monotheistic religion, only to find out, once deployed, the cylons turn on their creators, and begin to take over the colonies.

More military, and less Madmen in space...

I've just started watching Caprica.. It is a bit slow, definitely no BSG, but it isn't bad.. Though I am looking forward to seeing BSG: Flesh and Chrome..

Eddie Olmos gave a talk at a local college here in Kuala Lumpur over the weekend and a fellow BSG fan asked him if he would be involved with Blood and Chrome to which he jokingly answered, "That's industry secret!"

Oh, he also signed a few of my stuff! :)
