Supernatural EMF detector

I need to go back on my own DVD's and check - I totally nabbed Coz's shot from his post earlier in this thread. Coz, I can take down my image if you want.

I found one of these Draper meters and ordered it, but it has to come from the UK to USA before I can put my ruler on it.

About the color - I did find images of both a black and a blue version of this meter. The only ones I could find for sale were the blue ones, but that's just one night of looking.

I found a close facsimile locally which had a meter window that was 6cm wide with a height that was just shy of 5cm (it did not have the plastic top and bottom which would likely make up the difference.) I believe this bodes well for it, but I really won't know until I get it in my hands.

And I already have Jason's blog bookmarked ;)

Spectacular work on the meter display, I wasn't sure we'd get a good enough match... but I'm happily proved wrong. :)

I wonder whether the prop department used both colours in various versions :confused I'll see what I can find on the Blurays.

I want a couple of the Syntac boards but the supplier only sells at a minimum order of $50. The boards are $4.49 each. I want two. Anyone else want to go in with me? I could forward them on to you (for free shipping in the USA.)

Update... just picked up some coloured hook up wire today. I am ready to build! Unfortunately, I also got a freelance job today so I will be delayed a few days. Gotta pay the bills... :sleep

Update...

Need the sound to be a bit louder. Working on an amplification circuit for the speaker.

:cool

Update... Very rough fit together of some of the parts, definitely still a work in progress.. Need to add all the wire bundles that are wrapped around everything. Nothing soldered or screwed down, just testing, getting a feel for the exact positioning of the parts.

Still need one more part for the bottom center. :confused

LOOKS AMAZING, esp for a very rough fit as you call it. :love

By "rough fit" I mean that nothing is soldered or anything. For example all the LED and capacitor leads etc. are just bent over at the back. Plus none of the "guts" are in there. They are still on the breadboard as I am working on an amplification circuit for the speaker.

I am also trying to figure out what to use for the back or "belt clip" as some people refer to it.

:$

Update... the build is going well, working on fitting the final components together and planning how to fit in the "guts". I'm very sure that the original prop has no speaker so figuring out where to put one is a challenge. Everything is test-fitted so all the bits are not quite in their final positions, but it's close. Now I have to take it all apart again to start soldering!

Comments and suggestions are welcome. :$

Below is the meter version (as seen in season 7) I chose to work on:

Here is mine so far (the lighting is a bit off):

Another comparison of the real prop and my work in progress. Colours are a bit off due to artificial lighting.
