Hi all,

just wanted to share one of my current projects.

the client is going to mount this on a body for a full size statue display.

the finished piece will be silicne with hand made eyes and hand punched hair.

the sculpt is nearly there, just lettig the clay dry out befor i really get into the texturing.

Amazing. I'd love to have something like this or the skills to do it. I shoulda took sculpting instead of animation in art school lol. I look forward to seeing how this turns out. Do you use oil based clay?

Re: Superman Christopher Reeves bust wip

looks amazing - Your client is going to be ridiculously happy. A full body display is tough. I can't wait to see it all put together.

Also good to see a "serious" Reeve. :thumbsup

Re: Superman Christopher Reeves bust wip

Wauw! That is one amazing sculpt.. :eek

Nice expression, a bit more serious than what's
usually seen on these busts, but I really like it..

(I would also like to know what type of clay you're using)

Awesome detailing.. Always loved the Supe movies and Reeve.
-I'll be watching the progress on this one with great interest! :thumbsup

Nice job Rich and a very very good likeness. look forward to seeing the silicone pull when done and the eyes too.

Re: Superman Christopher Reeves bust wip

thanks guys, the clay for this is just regular wet clay.

cheers ian,

Howard, whats really funny is the pic in your avatar as i have just finished moulding a Robert Downey Jr bust, small world

Looks really good Rich... you really are getting ontop of this sculpting likenesses game. Only comment I might like to offer if you're open to suggestions is the eyes. I think the lower eyelids should angle up a lot more. The nose mouth and chin are fantastic! its just the eyes that need some minor tweaks. :)

Hi Phil,

always up for suggestions, its easy to make adjustments, are you on about the inside or outside of the eyes?

Looks amazing dude!

I know I have been on the rpf for a long time, but I still have no idea how silicone heads get made. Any chance you can WIP photo the process?

Your client is gonna be thrilled with the bust, it looks awesome!

What I mean is if look at the outside corners of the eyelids where the top meets the bottom lid. That needs to go up a few mm so they are actually a bit highter than the tear ducts and theres a noticable crease on both his lower eyelids that needs to be included... the just need to be a bit more puffy and blended

Look at this pic.. Its a low angle so the corners of the eyelids would actually be higher than they appear here aswell.

This pic look at the corners but be aware that ther are partically hidden by the eyelashes

Other than that the nostrals need to dip down a touch in the middle/front ;)

Re: Superman Christopher Reeves bust wip

thanks for that phil.

i have made the adjustments and it works better now

Re: Superman Christopher Reeves bust wip

Re: Superman Christopher Reeves bust wip

It looks just like a cast of Christopher head, Amazing work.
I been wondering if such silicone mask could be worn? Or is it solid.

Re: Superman Christopher Reeves bust wip

I have to say you've really come a long way as a sculpter in a very short period of time :)
