Suckerpunch Colossal Samurai with Gatling Gun

Got the chest, back and "pauldron" pieces sketched out onto butcher paper. Got it to fit pretty good and look about right. So decided time to commit to plastic. Also good news,
i've convinced 2 of my friends to join in, so they will actually be making the other 2 samurai from sucker punch.;

So unfortunately, with my timeframe i've got, i'm cutting corners and it wont look 100% accurate, BUT i'm happy with my progress. I do really need to take more pics, but here's a bit of what i've got.
This is my chest piece. using sintra plastic and some little rounded bolt thingys i found at the automotive section of lowes. Have pieces attached for over the shoulder, but that was before i took the pic.
These are the glospex glasses. Not too expensive and i'm hoping i'll get them to work well with the mask and helmet.
Here's the helmet after i put bondo on it. the helmet base is a swat helmet from amazon for $13, the horns are actual bull horns my dad had sitting around his garage from a project he never actually did. I need to take a new pic. I've sanded it down real well. Now to work on the emblem for the helmet.

I do have all the arm pieces and leg pieces cut, formed and drilled for the lacing. but right now it just looks like a pile of plastic. Have to just finish up a few things and i can start painting. Once my base paints are down, i can actually start harnessing everything and get the look together. Then to finalize and get the last weathering done.

I do also have all the parts for my gatling. Mainly parts from lowes, and a drill from harbor freight. picked up a bandolier of bullets from amazon for cheap, just need to secure them better and paint them. Then to build the "backpack" So little over a month til the con, but i'm hoping it comes out great.

Yeah I gotta pick up a pair for my Spacemarine. A lot of those guys use the glasses and swear by them. What else are you looking for?

So just a thing on the glospex. They are great if there is low light, no light, or if set back in a helmet where there's shadow. But out in the open and sunlight... yeah not so much. Also, they are like wearing a welders shield for light. You can still see in the daylight, but if you were in a low light place/no light, its gonna be dark.

Alright, my mask arrived last week, it really looks pretty good. Made an emblem for the helmet and got it attached. For the rest of the face i'm going to take an upper half of a halloween mask or and attach it to the bottom half, then i'll either mod the glospex to fit behind that mask, or use red see through material for the eyes. Pretty much all my pieces are cut and ready to start painting after i do a bit of weathering on them. I had all the pieces for a mini gun, but found that Mrminigun.com is selling his small one for $99 plus shipping, i decided to just get that and return my parts. Dont really have the time for it.
Anyway, here's the mask so far with helmet.

Got some good progress. I really do need to take more pics though. For my face, i found a soft plastic/rubber WWE mask at target. Cut it in half and glued it to the lowermask i got off ebay. the glospex would not work well, but i did use the LED setup and everything for it and put them in the eyebrows of the mask. Then i painted the sucker first with rustoleum aged copper, then with rustoleum hammered dark bronze. added covers for the eyes. Here's the result with the helmet and mask.

Got my minigun today. Got alot more done to it. Still have more to do. unfortunately dont have the time to do the backpack like i wanted. but the rest will look good.

This is a really cool unique costume, looking awesome so far. My wife had thought about dressing as Baby Doll, but I didn't think I could pull off David Carradine's character, this however I could do! thumbsup

You should totally do it. My friend is doing the straw hat samurai from SP. Theyre not anywhere near fully screen accurate, but i still like it Now to just play with paints on the gun so its not solid black.

Made some mods to the mini gun. Added the shield, though i changed the design. Used suitcase "leather" still need to weather that up a bit. Added some metallic paints to the barrelsand some to the chambers. Will add a little more of a different color tonight. I also redesigned my helmet a bit, mainly the eyes and lights. I added some window cover screening that i had painted red, with a black layer behind it, to hide my eyes more. Tore out the lights i had in there, and put in new ones, with a potentiometer and a switch. Now i can adjust the amount of light, and installed the switch under the helmet. I have the red LED's pointing down, rather than out. So it reflects and highlights the eye area. I'll have to take a picture later. forgot to do it. my wife also finished the upper suit, so now i can add the plates i need to on the arms and finish up my gloves.

Got more weathering done today and put everything together. need to find a balaclava to hide my skin, and need to finish harnessing the gauntlets, legs, and get some thinner longer gloves. But here's my progress.

Looking fantastic! I really like the way you reconfigured the lights in the mask, and the gun turned out great. Make sure you get some pics with the other samurai. thumbsup

Will do, as soon as we get him done. he hasnt been able to work on it as much as i have. but this weekend we're hoping to make some good progress. If only we could find a volunteer to do the third.

Okay, so here's our whole group. Not bad for doing this in about a month. the baby doll and long nose samurai had only 2 weeks to get ready for the con. We took 3rd in the intermediate cosplay competition at the Salt Lake FanXperience this last weekend.
