Thank you.

Well don't faint but I got something done today. Got the intercoolers master started and I got pretty far. Tomorrow I must take a visit to Kit Kraft and get some grated or metal siding sheet styrene the right scale for the grids. Add the front part and the little strips. But the basic shape came out well.

I also experimented making a deflector dish today with my new lathe and should have no problem making it on the lathe.

Evenings and weekends starting this week are for the big E or I'll never get her done. It will be a bit slower but heck I'm ready to start molding most of it and only have a few small parts to make still.

More this week,

Steve

Hey Steve!

Looks like you've got this one under control. I don't think many modelers/fans know that this ship is a real bear to get right. You're working with four body sections that all have to be proportionate to each other. Plus this ship's angles and front/side views have been skewed by camera lenses, etc. during filming of TOS..so the distortions can exaggerate what the miniature should really look like.

For a "non-rivet counter", you sure coulda fooled me! LOL! It has that "scary-too-real" look to it (like Merriman's work). Congrats!!

You nailed this one! Good for you! Congrats on the hard work, and I can relate to the dedication to getting something this complex--done! I'm with you in spirit during those long evenings and weekends when you're having hurdles to jump making it work.

Excellent work, Steve!!

Today I had a little time between rendering CGI files so out to the lathe I went. I got this on the first try. Darn rings are a 1/16 or less off from where they should be. Part of the problem associated with free hand lathing a part on a wood lathe so I'm going to go with it if no one minds.

Tomorrow I'll make up the parts for the back and the sensor and sensor pole. We are moving again.

Bend? Explain. If you mean it looks flat you need to go back and look at the other pictures on the following page. You'll see a picture from the 3/4 angle that shows you the true shape.

So a little more progress tonight. I figure every night after work hours I put in a little time and it will all be done.
