More 'Nerf-giver' info.
Ok, as illustrated straight 'out of the box', the first thing I wanted was for it to be functional and still work as a nerf gun, so no internal mods at all.
Nerf branding and excessive raised sections sanded flat.
Outer shell is plasticard (because it glues together with Revell plastic glue really well), that is then fixed to the nerf gun with Araldite epoxy glue and filled with liquid modelling filler. Then base coat with 2 coats of primer (Humbrol is what I used but most paints should be fine).
The whole thing then got 2 coats of matt black spray, with additional matt black paint watered down and painted into the recesses. Allow to dry.
The weathering is very light drybrushing with Games Workshop's Citadel 'Leadbelcher'. Very light means just that almost all the paint worked off the brush onto kitchen roll or similar, so that hardly any paint is visible, before gently brushing over the base black. It is built up with several layers over time. A lighter/brighter silver (Citadel 'runefang steel') was added as a final highlight to the ejector port.
Then paint over the flat black areas again to crisp up the edge contrast and paint in some of the watered down black to emphasize any edges within the silver highlighted areas.
Oh yes, the brush used for drybrushing should be a good quality one, On this I used a half inch Winsor & Newton watercolour brush.
