Ok, where to start?
Every Judge needs a lawgiver:

not quite right yet, add some plasticard, filler and paint:

Mk2 Lawgiver.

and that sets the scene for the build, comic Dredd's Mega-City 1 with whatever I can find.

Thanks for watching.

Ha, we could do a competition on the sight, "what is it made of?" actually its an old radiator thermostat!

A little more of where I'm at with the build.

The belt is a pretty standard utility type, the pouches are mostly camera cases. I'm still unsure as to adding justice dept eagles to each pouch though, I've seen a lot of different takes on Dredd over the years, hmm no rush I guess. The badge is built up with up to five layers of plasticard and velcro'd in place.

The gloves are my motorbike ones with extra leather sown on to extend them, and the smaller pouches that came with the utility belt.
Elbow pads are 'wulf' pads cut down with extra padding added. The padding on these is from an old camping mat! (the same camping mat gets used again later on)

The helmet is one from JB Replicas, thanks Joe!

and that leaves a pic of what got done this weekend:

a little work still needed here............................

That Lawgiver is amazing. How did you do the eagle on the shoulder? I can't wait to see how it turns out.

The Lawgiver was all I was going to do, a bit of fun converting a nerf gun and have it still work. But had fun doing it, and then whilst searching for inspiration came across RPF (and ECBT2000AD) and was inspired by what outstanding work everyone was doing on here and thought 'why not?'

So a huge thanks to everyone on here for sharing!

The top section of the eagle is domestic insulation, a pale pink dense foam that comes in large sheets for insulating your loft. It's very light, dense enough to carve with a hobby knife, pretty strong (I've dropped the eagle on its beak twice to no ill effect) and takes PVA and epoxy glues well. a word of warning though it does NOT take spray adhesive kindly, just eats it away I discovered.

I'm off to try and carve the talons out of the same stuff this evening, more pics once I've progressed a bit.

Small advances here.............

Starting to combine elements: a half decent shot of glove and nerf-giver, "It's The Law or nothing!"

The eagle finally has all the feathers attached, just a bit of filling, priming, painting and weathering to go.

and found some brilliant boots:

..............and stuck foam on them!

Still far from done:

Can't find a good section of chain anywhere, Boots are base painted and are far too green and need a lot of work still, knee pads are causing problems for some reason!

The eagle and shoulder pad aren't finished but:

quietly pleased with this.

I'm sure everyone has seen these but talk about inspiration:

When they do make the next DREDD film, I hope you guys are all invited to be in it.

Fan-Drokkin-tastic!

You should be pleased. You look amazing. I'm (what's a good way to say stealing....) using your Lawgiver as the inspiration for my own.

The right gold chain could be really hard to find. Luckily for me plastic yellow chain is fairly common. You could always paint plastic chain which sounds like no fun at all or you could use chain from this Run DMC costume I found or something similar. 40" Heavy Rope Link Gold Pimp Chain Old School Rapper Run DMC Costume Bling | eBay

Thanks BexxieB!

Good luck with the Lawgiver.

Working on the boots (nearly done but work keeps getting in the way) and knee pads (still not happy with them) and daystick (broom handle).

Chain remains elusive, but have got a very nice 'planet replicas' badge with my name on it.

Really need to not get distracted and start a movie version.............focus!

Really impressed with the build, it looks awesome, can't wait to see how it turns out. I was just wondering if you painted your gloves and if so what did you use?

Gloves?

yes they're painted, they are black leather underneath.

They are base sprayed with leather spray 'Magix shoe spray leather 321 dark green' really good paint, takes really well, no cracks at all so far and can be painted over. I've weathered/highlighted with Humbrol light olive and a mix of GW's Citadel paints.

I'm trying to do the same with the boots, but have had to use a different base green as the brilliant dark green has become very rare indeed.

The gloves as they were didn't have individual knuckles (all in a single block) the knuckles have been separated with araldite and a little modelling filler.
