Stormtrooper Oddities

Not sure if it's already been mentioned and I'm sure that most peolpe would have discovered this but for those who haven't (like myself until recently)

good old ESB made it into ROTJ

Another ROTJ oddity, Aren't these ANH troopers running down the hall after the executor crashes into the death star. The one in the middle is missing one of his aerators

You are correct. This ROTJ footage was actually ANH unused Deathstar attack footage.

I first thought the band on this trooper lid was missing but now I'm thinking it's a painted band - kind of like the picture of the guy that says he was a background trooper...

That is odd lookin the way his trim kinda shimmers with the light...

I kinda thought that that was joe johnston, by the way his arms look so long in the first pic...

He was on the tantive in TK right?

I was asking if one of those 2 were joe johnston... I know where the pics are from. :p

Anyone know was he even in the tantive scenes, I seem to remember hearing he was.

And i wonder what is up with that trim, you think it was like white painted gloss black anson?

it seems EXTRA glossy.

seems we might have a new varient. :lol

glossy brow trooper. ;)

it would look cool i bet with like a cosmo black chrome, like you see on guitar hardware... B)

Looks like we've may have a new variant alright - heroes, stunts and background troopers.
I'm not 100% this is the same helmet as the photo of Mr Philpot - I think the band is thicker on Philpot's lid .

This could point to there being a couple of buckets with painted bands...

and thats probably the ANH hero that had white gaffer tape around one of his mic tips. ;)
[/b]

Doesn't look like he has a mic tip at all in that shot. That is the same lid as Luke Skywalker's, but the mic tip didn't have the white tape on it until the Holiday Special...IIRC. Maybe the mic tip didn't have white tape on it, but was a "make-shift" mic tip for the Holiday Special, because the other one fell out...??? Maybe...

I think it's the same helmet as this one here:
Look how the trim is glossy and doesn't go all the way to the "ear pieces".

This looks like a totaly new suite. Look at the parts, and look at the bands holding the chest and back together...strange. But the helmet looks to be the same, exept for the detailing.

I'm not so sure it's the same helmet. There seems to be a bigger gap between the top of the eye and trim in the helmet in the screen shot.

So after a little while & an email's getting lost, :cry here is a little more fuel to the fire.

It's reported that the knee plates (or some of them) were made from flexible Material & there were a different types. Material possibly similar to that of the hand Armour.

The picture taken is post Tunisia???, this is speculation based on the amount of repair work and damage sustained to the Armour already, the Armour was laid out in boxes or on tressel tables & it was just bit of a bun fight at time's for the extras to put on what ever fitted best at the time. or failing that it was up for swaps.

If I come through with any Moore info, I will let you know :)

Jeezus you have good eyes. :eek

No kidding.
"Oh yeah, you can clearly see in the third frame there is a molecule of powdered sugar on the upper edge of the lid stripe and we KNOW that the powdered donuts were only served on the Tuesday prior, so it has to be lid 13a with the wrong left knee cap and an obvious sharpie markered name written in the inside back of the helmet.."

Dang, the scrutiny challenges that of the Original Star Trek props.
Great job fellas.

The paint on the ear piece looks a lot lot lighter than the screencap and doesn't appear to have a black outline, although you can't tell if there is a black outline on the screencap helmet either...To me the helmet looks like a sharp FG copy...

i found another "behind the scenes" picture of the weird looking cardboard handplates.

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b345/RoCKo_1975/BTS12.jpg
[/b]

IIRC, all the handplates are made like that, they are all glued to the latex gloves. I think the handplates are made from a solid rubber type material. The are not hollow like you get with these kits.

I wanted to make some of these, but didn't know where to start.

Just look at this image of Han's handplate - it looks as if it flexs with his hand.
