HAH. That is so true. I can imagine if I showed up somewhere in my Stormtrooper armor and it had no "stripes" on the helmet face someone would point out that it is "wrong"... he heh.

But it wouldn't be wrong though.

Yeah your absolutely right. A few years ago I appeared on the tv programme I used work for dressed in my FX armor. I was having problems with my belt, which kept popping open and falling on to the floor with a bang. Well the show was going out live so to be sure it stayed in place I sealed the plastic and the leather solid with white duct tape . . . the lads were all pointing it out saying it looked crap and I agreed with them. Little did I know at the time that duct tape, missing armor pieces and a whole punch of other oddities were present in the originals when filmed :lol

Here you go Mr Nostripes fans....

It's been a long while since I checked out the board and this is a GREAT thread to jump back it. Lots of fun. ANYWAY...

Although not trooper related on that pic- but what is the deal with using the "blue screen" (black accents, not blue) version of Artoo?

Ah ha, I expect that'll be an R2 used for bluescreen filming. One of the props used on Luke's X-Wing had it's blue dome parts painted black so that they didn't 'disappear' when the background was added.

Exactly. Like I said in my post- the "blue screen" (black accents, not blue) version of Artoo.

Oopsey yeah, (must stop posting when I'm half asleep :D)

As to why they used that R2 I've no idea, maybe it was the only one available at the time?

That pic is FULL of weirdness. If it weren't for the real props and Mark Hamill himself, I'd swear it was a fake. :p

It's all hazy like a dream - maybe it's a jedi mind trick, and it is a fake. :lol

It does look like that's Vader's cape and glove showing. It looks like Vader has been cut out of the photo somehow. You can even see Vader's shadow on his shoulder and bicep armor.

Are we sure that this is the same guy without helmet in the group shot? In the group shot the guy without helmet has a hand plate showing. The hair is kinda similar (but then it was the 70's LOL.) but he has a rounder face and a Kirk Douglas chin :p

Who dressed Vader? And what kind of blaster is Luke carrying?

What is blocking the guys left arm??? The brow trim is awfully shiny too, don't you guys think?

ODD.

I originally thought it was Vader's arm. After seeing him next to Vader in that other pic, I still say it's Vader.

Those forearms do look like bicep pieces. Maybe that's the origianl size and the actual bicep pieces he has on are cut down?

Mr Phipot advises me that the picture has been cut down from it's original size, however he Recall's the second actor in the shot to his left was wearing a black costume, most likely not vader unfortunatly as Mr Philpot did'nt work with any of the principle actor's. So the person blocking his left arm is most probably is an extra from the Cantina.? Hope this shed's some more light :)

Sort of a rhetorical question, but does a single shot exist without a "stormtrooper oddity"?

Kinda helps one understand the reason they went CGI with the clones maybe?

It's called personality. Something the cgi ones are devoid of.

Yeah, don't get me wrong I didn't like the CGI fakeness.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Darth Domain @ Mar 30 2007, 01:47 PM) </div>
They sure did chuck alot of this stuff together in a hurry eh?

Well it was a low budget movie and there were a lot of trooper suits needed. If GL knew how much money it would make, he would have went even further over budget and did things better.

I think I need to start a disinformation correction campaign. ;)

SW was not a low budget production.

The average budget for a movie in the late 70s was about $5 million. No, SW was not a lavish budget either, but they started with 7 which was quite respectable and ended up spending 10.

Not low budget. ;)
