Stormtrooper blaster sound - inexpensive mod needed

I have the toy Hasbro blaster which I am converting using the doopydoos kit and really want to replace the horrid sound effects that the toy makes but I don't want to invest the money in one of the Hyperdyne or Plecter Labs sound kits until I get a more accurate replica of the gun.
Does anyone know of a simple and inexpensive sound card that produces a movie-accurate blaster sound?

The sound board from the Rubies Han Solo blaster seemed to me to have a decent E-11 sound - PLUS you can trigger the sound again before the previous clip has stopped playing. I'm thinking with a decent speaker to replace the POS it comes with, it might be a cheap alternative, and is my intention for my planned all-metal build. The other thing I tried was a recordable sound card intended for greeting cards I purchased from evilbay. It has a USB interface, and I loaded a file I converted from Jedi Academy (I think I was able to us a 24k sample). Sounded greatin the receiver on my PVC build, but it's large, and I wanted to do this blaster with a working cocking mechanism....then the kids got to it, and the card no longer works. I think I paid like $10 for it?

I don't know anything about wiring this sort of thing up so I have a friend who may be able to help me - I just want to see what options I have out there. Thanks for the suggestion, I will look into it.

ah... the search for the programmable SD card loaded mp3 player!
I have found a few, but none have a color organ.

My ears are burning. ;) I have one of the rubies solo blasters Timmythekid suggested. I was planning on using it in my denix or my sterling at some point in the future. We can experiment with it and see if it's to your liking. Just gotta get a premium speaker from the custom saber shop.

I know this is an OLD thread, but I bought one of the Rubies recently and was disappointed that the sound card sounded more like a micro .30-06 that a SW blaster. I did a youtube search and some seem to have the right effect, and others don't. I'm guessing maybe that either there is an early/incorrect version and a later/correct one, or whatever factory these are coming out of in China doesn't pay a lot of attention to which sound board they slap into it.

Go get a Radio Shack 60-second digital voice recoder module for $10.00
Then--shoot me a PM for how to get an MP3 to that board and wired up ;)
