Stormtrooper armor

[/B]Hey guys,

This is my first post on here and I thought I would start with a stormtrooper build. I'm using cardboard as a base and plan on hardening it with resin and fiberglass. Of course then add bondo and sand. Nothing new with that process, we see it all the time. I guess this post is mainly to share my experience and get pointers. Plus it will motivate me to complete a build. I also have been working on a Boba Fett build using cardboard which I'll probably post later down the line. Thanks to my friend Ragz for the templates which I believe were created by JFCustoms. I'm still learning my way around this site so please bare with me.

I made the chest plate, back plate and shoulder bells today. I used tape to hold the parts in place and hot glued the it together from the back.

Thanks Blaxmyth! I apologize guys, I have to make a correction from my last post. The files that I'm using are from Fierfek and not JFCustoms. I looked at so many different files...got the names mixed up. Well, I got a chance to make the biceps and the ab plate. I threw all the parts on a stand to get a idea of how it would look. If all else fails with this build I can always use it as a bust?!

subbed, armor is looking really good. would it be possible for you to post up some of the dimensions?

Hey guys!

I've been really busy lately so I haven't been able to do as much as I wanted to. I made the forearm and the hand plate. I had to make my own forearm slots. I know that it's not screen accurate but hey...It's for me as display piece.

The forearm piece wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. Felt as if I had to shape the cardboard like putty.

Blaxmyth,

I did do some pep work last year. My laptop died on me while I was making a IM Mark 4 for Halloween. Here are some pics that I had taken and put on my Instagram account.

I still have it and plan on making a bust.

GTImotion,

I'm not able to get to my wife's PC tonight. I'll look up the dimensions ASAP. I will tell you that I did not change any sizes. I have been printing them as they are. Any particular parts your looking for?

No rush whenever you can is fine with me. So far just the back looking box of the armor and the height of the chest plate to its highest point.
When you said that you have been printing them what do you mean? Are you printing them on regular paper and then transferring the forms to a cardboard?

Hey guys...

For those who have been following this thread I must apologize for my absence. My father passed away and I have been very busy with family and taking care of business. I'll return to this build soon.

I've had some progress since my last post. I've been working on parts here and there. I completed the left gauntlet and hand plate and moved to the cod piece. I had to basically make two cods, cut one then glue it on top of the other in order to have the raised curve. The template didn't have any raised details so I had to make my own.

Next I did the kidney and butt plate. I still need to add the raised rectangle that appears on these pieces.

Tonight I made the belt. I used card stock paper for this portion,I wanted it to have some pretty crisp folds, cardboard wouldn't had turned out as clean. I backed some of the areas with cardboard for thickness and strength.

I assembled some parts together to get an idea of how things were looking. I placed the parts together with duct tape, scotch tape and a miracle.

Not sure if it is just me, but I cannot see the pictures in the second to last post. I get a message about invalid attachments. I am loving the progress that I can see though. I would not have thought that it would be possible to make decent armour out of corrugated cardboard. My hat is off to you.

PS: Hope you enjoyed May the 4th

Same here! This build looks most impressive, especially since it's made from a material that I associate with packaging and disposable storage. To see it in this iconic shape makes an interesting contrast. :thumbsup
