What's an average night for Deputy Sheriff Steven Seagal?
"We patrol and also listen to the radio for the bad stuff: bank robberies, kidnappings, murders, armed robberies in progress. Those kinds of things."
You were in New Orleans right after Katrina, right?
"Yup, and I saw sh** that I wouldn't want to tell you. Every day I got to save somebody's life. Every day I got to jump bad guys who were trying to kill and rape. People have said, 'In my darkest hour, my moment of light was when Steven Seagal rescued me.'"
You make plenty of money fighting bad guys in movies. Why the hell are you risking your a**?
"I love doing something that's really helping people who are suffering, who are about to get raped or kidnapped. I come from a background where I was a warrior. Acting is just something to pay the bills."
How often do you get recognized mid-bust?
"When I'm kicking the door with five guys carrying machine guns, they don't know who the hell it is. After everybody's handcuffed, then maybe 50 percent of the people say, 'Holy sh**, is that Seagal?'"
Do the bad guys ever ask for an autograph?
"It happens all the time. It's the funniest thing."
Has word spread though the 'hood that Steven Seagal is patrolling the streets?
"I don't want to sound egotistical, but when word gets out that I'm in town, crime goes down."
