Steampunk Bane (TDKR)/WIP - Con pics on last page

Re: Steampunk Bane Ideas?

These are the pants and the knee pads (pre sewn). I pulled the stitches on the velcro pieces so they are no longer on there.

Second is the respirator I am going to be using. I removed the straps and the front filter area and put in a strainer for a sink. It extends the respirator by about a half an inch but no big deal.

Re: Steampunk Bane Ideas?

Alright, pics will come tonight, but in essence my idea was to have a boiler type tank as a back pack with pipes extruding from the top, venting steam. Connected to his breathing mask is large long tubes that connect to the tank on the back.

As far as the rest of the design it's just basic steampunk.

Hope it gives you some ideas.

Sweet brother. Can't wait to see it...thanks.

Re: Steampunk Bane Ideas?

I'm not proud with how far I was able to get with the time I've had... Here's what I've got, just roughing in ideas...

If it looks like something that would translate into a good cosplay I'll finish it (may anyway and put in on my fb page ;) ) Hope it gives you some ideas :)

That is pretty awesome Seth. I appreciate you taking the time to help me out and provide some great ideas. That tank is most impressive. The exhausts really pull it together.

Re: Steampunk Bane Ideas/First WIP

So I guess I have gathered many ideas from some great sources, so thanks. I supposed I am committed now.

Borrowing some material techniques from Primo and his Bane on a Budget build, I made a quick mock up of the blowoff valves on the respirator. The outer two will probably stay but I may move the the inner two somewhere else. Some extra materials will be needed for the bottom of the mask since there is many curves on the respirator.

Thoughts?

Re: Steampunk Bane Ideas/First WIP

I was drawing smething but it turned out looking like the movie one, LOL
Just minor changes, like a modified movie one

I changed the tubes for copper tubes with solder
And put 2 gauges on each side, but i stiil have to add more stuff

Wear a bowler hat. Bond cap/flat cap looks good on minions, but Bane is no little minion :p

Very true sir. I wasn't going to wear a hat at all. With the mask being somewhat bulky with the full leather strappings, I don't think a hat will work but I will keep it as an option.

Thanks for the feedback.

That is a very good point too, actually... It might be a bit too overwhelming and take away from the Bane-effect... however, if you ever feel like you need a hat, bowler it should be :p

Re: Steampunk Bane Ideas/First WIP

Hey, glad to see my budget build yielded some inspirado!

Like I said earlier, I want to draw something up myself - not to step on anyone else's toes, but just to help give you lots of options =0)

Might work on that at lunchtime; I have my tablet with me today...

Nice. Glad to have you in the loop. I changed around the blowoff valves a bit last night and I am gluing them in place this morning and should be posting apic later.

Re: Steampunk Bane Ideas/First WIP

This is my 100th post, so I hope it's worth it :)

Here's what I've came up with, it's on my facebook and will be up on my Deviant art tonight. Hope this inspires you.

Re: Steampunk Bane Ideas/First WIP

That is perfect Seth!! The cogs in the bottom really pull it all together. I like the duel exhaust but I liked the quad exhaust too! Decisions, decisions. After I get my mask glued up and while I decide how I am going to keep it on my face (something equal to my skill level), I wanted to start working on the tanks. I was thinking pvc and foam layering for most of it. Maybe a couple of those huge 2 liter soda bottle but that seems a little tacky to me.

Thoughts?

Re: Steampunk Bane Ideas/First WIP

Alrighty - so after lunch I sketched out the mask with hat combo. Used your respirator as the basis.

So, details as shown in the drawing:
- mask painted in a dark bronze color
- decorative brass plate in the middle above the sink-drain piece
- smaller pipes of copper, or copper colored straws, etc
- larger tubes I envisioned as cloth-wrapped tubing for some reason. You can get this exact look with braided guitar cables, actually.
- blowoff valves at the bottom, which I drew in the shape of old steam whistles with the 'hats' and all. in this pic the steam would blow horizontally outward from center.
- strapping done in brown leather with brass buckles and belt-tips.
- and of course the bowler hat as mentioned =0)

Re: Steampunk Bane Ideas/First WIP

Frickin awesome Primo!! Between you and Seth, great ideas and excellent art work. I will strive to make my build live up to some expectations. I love the color scheme and the strapping. I placed my tubing differently but I am almost thinking to buy another respirator and make this version too.

I am gluing everything up tonight and I will post a pic shortly after. Then comes priming and hand painting with model paint. The color scheme is spot on. Thanks brother...
