Well, as i am nearing completion of the destiny bridge model i was able to obtain set blueprints on the bridge , now i can go back and redo a bunch of stuff, yay.
But on the bright side if i ever become a millionaire i now have the full set of prints to build the actual bridge.

Well the bad news is not much progress worth shouting about today, good news is first progress pics of the destiny remodel coming tomorrow now that I'm happy with the overall shape. If LoganCale is happy with what he sees then the long task of detailing will begin.

Can't wait to see the Destiny progress pics. I'm glad this thread has grown to attract the level of interest it has. I imagine with the increased availability of 3d printers these days more and more projects that required great detail like this will be attempted than ever before. Very exciting times.

Yeah, apologies for the delay in progress, right in the middle of changing jobs. Will be back on top of these builds over the next week. Was informed of the move very last second. Thankfully doesn't mean moving house as well. Ironically a stargate would be handy for the commute now.

After going back and seeing that my modeltree is actually an appalling mess i decided to tidy up and remodel. Got the plan view back and did some work on the nose. This is two hours work today to get restarted and do some render tests. Every time i post updates on destiny from now on, a beauty shot using the trick in the screen shot will be posted as well. With settings up high enough it looks close to the show.



More to come tomorrow or wednesday depending on work.

Well, I think it will cheer a few people up to know that I've changed my mind, the stargate and destiny will be done for free. Partially because it's taking me a lot longer than expected due to new work commitments, but mainly because, as a modeller myself I know how expensive it can get so if i can reduce the costs for someone else's project then I'm happy to help.

I think I speak for everyone when I say I've gone years wanting this and not having any way of creating it, a few more weeks or months are a small price to pay.

Like I said, don't worry about it. I'm actually quite enjoying the destiny build and the destiny gate is slowly starting to look good. The milky way gate is almost there and hence the Pegasus gate is not far behind, just need to change symbol set and change it to 36 symbol segments from 39. Thankfully my busiest few weeks are over this weekend. So modelling will recommence this weekend.

Seeing as people are still wanting to pay me for the models, everyone who wanted the milky way gates and Pegasus gates pm me with the email address tied to your PayPal. I'll send an invoice across as they will both be ready next weekend. The destiny gate will be ready the following weekend. As two people have commissioned the milky way and destiny gates they will be $25 per person. The Pegasus gate will be $45, unless someone else wants an Atlantis gate so it goes down to $25 per person as well. If the email address that is tied to your PayPal account isn't a decent capacity one also pm me another email address that is for the files to be sent to, they will be quite large. May have to send some via google drive if they won't go via email as there's a 25MB limit for attachments on most email accounts.

As for the destiny, hopefully won't take a ridiculous amount longer. And is $200 reasonable or too high?

Also, forgot to ask. Once the gates and destiny are finished, what is the concensus on the next build, seed ship or Atlantis? Or even the daedalus?

I will say one thing for Atlantis, as it is meant to be the size of Manhattan and it will be a relative small scale it won't be able to have anywhere near as much detail on it as destiny. And the file size will be huge. Well I'll count that as half a vote each for Atlantis and Daedalus.

Thought I'd seen something like that out there. The hiveships are that organic a shape it would take a pure surface modelling software with some pretty impressive capabilities to model it. I'm talking autodesk alias level and I don't have several thousand pounds/dollars to spend on a specialist surface modeller. I have the skill, but not the resources. I can take a look at a simplified version on the software I have access to. I can see about getting a slightly more advanced software like catia or nx which might be more capable of handling the task.

Atlantis would be doable, but as I said, the limits in scale for 3d printing and computing power limit the detail that can be put into the city.

Atlantis and seed ship would be sweet. Seed ship sized to fit with the scale of the Destiny. Also like a good sized model of the destiny shuttle. Tom Preys model is incredible but seems smaller than I'd like. Love to have one that is about 8 inches long. The Daedelus kits would be neat to have as well.

Can we see some pics of final renders of the gates? Totally excited to see what you've been up to.

A super large sized atlantis model would be epic.
