Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (Pre-release)

If Rey is a Skywalker why did they spend so much time and effort to convince us she's not.

Classic misdirection, suspense, drama, etc......It's possible they went the way they did in TLJ because maybe Kylo told her that her parents were nothing for fear that if she knew Luke was her father, it would make her stronger, thereby making his chances of recruiting her to join him even more slim. Maybe the idea was no one knew because they were protecting her, maybe she would have been even more of a target if others knew she was a Skywalker.

At this point, there were so many fans whining that she should be a Skywalker that maybe they just caved and said, "******, OK, she's a Skywalker".......who knows.

As I've been saying for over a year now, we were meant to believe going into ESB that Vader killed Luke's father. Nobody believed Vader WAS Luke's father until it was confirmed in RotJ. This kind of misdirection and leaving controversial aspects unaddressed is right out of the George Lucas playbook.

I've been pulling for her to be a child of the force, like Anakin, since day 1. Would be entertaining to see them go that way.

Anakin's mother felt he had a destiny, and fights to give him a future; but Rey's mother may not have even know she was a force child if she had a husband. Then their reaction was fear, and loathing, so they trade her off as a slave and run for it.

Anakin was meant to bring balance, or to get the ball rolling at least. His destiny was to destroy the Jedi. Now Rey's destiny is to destroy the sith. Get rid of the force cults.

We could even learn that Anakin was not the first child born of the force. In that way, if Rey is also fatherless, she'd be like the same family as Anakin. In a way, she'd be a Skywalker.

Anyways, they won't do it that way, but it's fun to dream.

One teaser that doesn't really show anything, and people already schimpfing about plot points... excellent.

How do we know the Skywalker in the title isn't referring to Kylo, rather than Rey... We don't

Nor do we know if the Emperor really is back, or shows up as a holovid on the death star. Or as a vision of the past.

How do we know that Billy Dee didn't ask for that costume as he liked it so much? We don't, yet it's another reason to gripe.

Yes. Because 75 year old men always wear the same clothes they wore on one day back when they were 30

Totally believable.

I am still wearing parachute pants, a Members Only jacket, Izod polo, white Reebok high tops, a gold chain, feathered hair, and a legionnaire hat just like I did in 1983

Aren’t we all still walking around sporting the clothes we were wearing 30-40 years ago?

I still see these styles every day...

Slo-mo just looks wrong in Star Wars.

They did the same thing in TFA where Poe and Finn walk past each other at the Resistance base. It was slowed down for the trailer, but normal speed in the film.

It's really just a cool dramatic beat for a trailer. I liked it.

Honestly, I expect it's more likely to be that he gets on board, needs a change of clothes, and finds it in an old closet, then goes "Hey! Look what still fits!!". It wouldn't be the first time they had an outfit or piece of gear pulled out of the falcon in different times, in different stories.

If you told me 20 years ago that I would be more excited about an Avengers trailer than a Star Wars trailer I wouldn't have believed you. Yet this is the world I now live in. Trailer did nothing for me. The title did even less.

Same here. It feels like they're trying to say "hey, remember when Star Wars was good?" Zero interest in seeing it. When it says "the saga ends", sorry, the saga ended in 1983. This is just crap.

Well, in all seriousness, “Star Wars” takes place in a “fairy tale setting”. 21st century Earth clothing style norms really don’t apply there.

Damn! I hate Rey, she's annoying and, even if some people don't realise the definition of it, a Mary Sue. I hate the new Star Wars, because TFA was not really good and TLJ the worst movie ever produced BUT Mark Hamill voiced the Trailer and the laugh at the end. The Joker will kill Rey and every Single Character of this mess of a trilogy and finally face Batman (played by Kevin Conroy) at the End.
