Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (Pre-release)

Well, after The Last Jedi, I've learned to be guarded with trailers. Solo and TLJ, for me, were colossal disappointments, ripped the heart right out me, and I felt like the SW spirit had left me forever. But........my inner child who grinned from ear to ear when I went and saw SW as a kid in the theaters in 1977 keeps fighting......and I feel a sense of wonder and excitement again after seeing this! Loved seeing Lando again. Please JJ, for the love of all that is holy, do the saga justice.........

Where is my beloved R2D2?

How do we know that is a death star dish?

Where do you see in the trailer that terrible mustached slug new alien?

New little droid is ok but the fact they made it the little lamp is kind of weak.

Havent we had 2 trilogies coveribg the rise of 2 Skywalkers?
So this is either a ham fisted title to assure us all that Luke is coming back to life or Rey is gonna be a Skywalker.
Where is R2? And why does the ball have a sidekick.
Palpatine?! Thats just lame, embarrassing in fact.

I am loving Rey's Jedi look. I see shades of young Leia in it, which is interesting.

I damn near sobbed when they showed Carrie. I'm not sure that will ever not hurt like hell.

Overall, this FEELS far more like Star Wars than TLJ did, and that is a good start, as far as I'm concerned.

Visually looks good. Name ? not sure what the connotation is suppose to mean. Either possibilities are really odd.
If Rey is a Skywalker why did they spend so much time and effort to convince us she's not. Is Luke suppose to be
like ***** and rise from his death ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Palpatine returns ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Gonna need a lot more than stunning visuals to convince me to see it in the theater. Not to say I'm not open to it, I'm
just not going to go because of a trailer(s) or critics review. I'll wait and decide when I see and hear more. A more complete
story synopsis and "Fan" reviews will be what will convince me to go. Kylo still has his ridiculously designed saber (sigh).
At least so far there's no light saber over the shoulder throwing and milk drinking.

So was Snoke another Phantom Menace?

Possibly. Wouldn't break my heart. Any story told well is still a good story.

Well I can't remember if slow motion was used in TFA or TLJ off the top of my head, but I can say for certain it was used in ESB...

I'm not sure they ever used slow motion in the now "traditional" sense, but they certainly did things where they screwed with the speed of the camera/playback, to try and fit what they were going for. For example, I think they slowed down the speed of the film when obiwan was killed, but I always viewed that as their way of making the robe "float down" into a pile, not just drop like a burlap sack. It was stuff like that.

Yes. Because 75 year old men always wear the same clothes they wore on one day back when they were 30

It's called style. Look it up.

*Pops his collar*

I think there is also a bit of slow motion when Luke starts to use the force during the trench run- everything goes silent and the view out the cockpit window looks all floaty as if in a dream...

Yay we'll finally get Clone Palpatine, because we know Disney loves wiping out old EU ideas just to bring them back in different context (Death Star Plans, Thrawn, New Jedi Order, Black Sun)

Black Sun
To be fair, Black Sun was in The Clone Wars as part of Maul's crime syndicate, so it was already canon before Lucas sold the franchise.

Also, Dark Empire was one of the most popular EU stories. Up there with the Thrawn Trilogy.

You never met my grandparents. I think some of the clothes they wore were purchased back in the 40s.

The paneling surrounding the dish section is the same style used in the Death Stars. You can also see the equatorial trench there.
