It's a sad reality.2019...I can't even tell if this is sarcasm anymore or not.
This. A billion times this. No, Disney, I'm not buying a dozen novels, subscribing to your comic series, and playing a really mediocre video game just so I can 'get' your movie. It's a callous, greedy, despicable marketing move, and it's not. happening. Similarly, I will not be chided by people who DO buy all of that crap, and who were some of the loudest defenders of TFA and TLJ to paper over the gaping logic, narrative, and plot holes with 'cha....brah, you just didn't understand the movie because you needed to consume Disney products X through Z!'. No. I'm not participating in that nonsense. The films either stand on their own, or they don't - you either tell a compelling story that, you know, I'll probably want to find out more about, or you tell a weak story that I've got no interest in pouring more cash into. You can use that stuff to expound upon things, but not replace what needs to be done on screen. It's where saying they actually did things in those 30 years falls completely apart. You can't expect your audience do anything except watch the movie.
Oh that's an easy explanation - ewoks won because those Anovos suits of armor were never were delivered to the Endor garrison. They absolutely were totally for real scheduled for delivery the NEXT quarter after the Empire fell though. And also remember this is the film series that had these

Why is Poe dressed like Nathan Drake?Going back to another sub thread about Rose and her disappearance from marketing materials, this recent banner added Rose and Jannah.

It's just standard adventurer garb
I would agree, to an extent.
The problem i see is the ST adds nothing whatsoever to the first two. TFA and TLJ have pretty much nothing to do with what came before. Except they've been billing this as the end of the 9 part saga since the get go without ever doing anything that relates to the previous set or builds upon it. There isn't a pure direct connection between 3 and 4, for example, but even though 4 came first, 4-6 still build upon what happened in 1-3 when you watch chronologically.
That doesn't happen between 6 and 7. There's nothing that happens in 7 - 8 (other than the use of the OT cast for whatever reason). Push it off 100 years so those characters can't be used and nothing changes at all.
Unless, they try and show this was all EP's doing which, as noted, undermines 1-6 and shows the failure to acknowledge it in 6 and 7.
Star Wars is as popular as ever compared to the number of replies to the other threads in this section. The numbers favor Star Wars. Plus there are multiple star wars theads on page one alone. The prop section beats the DC and marvel section by like 100k or more replies. I read that someone said these discussions are not getting as much attention these days when in fact the number of replies say other wise. There are opinions negative or positive that tell us how invested fans are to the franchise compared to any other. Hell how old is this thread? Show me a pre/post release thread that has this many replies.
Anyway. I really enjoyed TFA. I thought it was a perfect intro to the ST. Then TLJ happened. It took TFA and shat on it hard. No one but Poe received any character development and i think Poe's wasnt even intentional by Ruin Johnson. It went no where and I mean no where. I was so let down when the cave scene revealed NOTHING about Rey. TLJ crashed the ST and is the sole reason why people have any negativity towards it. TLJ is the Star Wars version of Seinfeld. The space wars about nothing. And I was pissed about the lack of a traditional lightsaber fight. I think best course of action is to retconn TJL and make a new EP VIII with out Ruin Johnson. And the political nonsense on Canto Bite about the animal abusing war profiteering people just made Ruin Johnson look more like a fool and an idiot. He has no respect for the franchise.
Now I think and this is my opinion that JJ was brought back to correct TLJ after the backlash on it from fans. No matter what they say that it's true or not there are some small elements in the film that so retconn TLJ such as Kylo repairing his helmet and using it again. I thought he did good with TFA and will try to make good with what he is given and where the trilogy stands at this point.
I will say this again. WE NEED PALPATINE TO HAVE A CLOSURE TO THE SKYWALKER SAGA. Lucasfilm/Kathleen Kennedy decided to make the ST after the sale. So we are stuck with the trilogy and this film being the end of the saga. We need palps. He is Anakin's father and Ben's great-grandfather. Palps was being everything from the start. Ignore ROTJ and look at the story as a whole, all nine films. It would be awkward to have a grand finale with out the dude who master minded every event that took place.
I look at ROTJs ending as a father saving his son and proving that it's possible to turn from the dark side. Untill Anakin turns back I don't see that ending being undone.
BUT I do feel Palpatines return is somewhat jacked into IX as a way to get fans back in theater seats and save the trilogy. TFA and TLJ do not hinybat his return or even set it up. This film has a lot riding on it, more so then the last too. Because of that it can be screwed up real easily and become a mess of a film. It's like the entire trilogy is all on this film. It wouldnt be this way if Ruin Johnson didn't jack all over the ST with his disrespectful take of a film.
Nowhere in canon does it say Palpatine is in anyway involved in Anakin's creation and/or birth.
Yes it does. Issue 25 of Marvel's Darth Vader comic says thats what happened. The LFL Story Group says all the Marvel Star Wars comics are canon.
I’m actually confused on what is canon and non-canon in the Star Wars verse now.I stand corrected.
Can't say i'm hugely impressed that they've done that though. Was far more interesting to me that Palpatine had nothing to do with his creation.

From my understanding, everything that isn’t the movies or Disney books post 2014 are non canon.

The Difference Between Star Wars Canon and Legends
A look at the difference between the Canon and Legends timelines in Star Wars literature.www.youtini.com
I did think this was a good move initially since the expanded universe would be a huge challenge for Disney to work with. But now I don’t know.
I do think a Star Wars could work without Palpatine though. A story about post-war reconstruction and implementing democracy after a huge power vacuum would have been interesting. I could also see Kylo being tricked to support the First Order from a desire to be a hero like Anakin and Luke trying to keep his nephew out of war due to leia’s request or something.
I stand corrected.
