Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (Pre-release)

Link was always to the website.

When I was writing the post I was looking at putting a spoiler tag in and attaching their images and decided the link was sufficient. Still doesn’t need a jerk reply.

Don’t be mad at me because you’re embarrassed about not know what is and isn’t a spoiler.

I have nothing to be embarrassed about. I’ll go back the prop section and leave the fighting to the kids.

Sounds like a plan.

Now back to topic...

Is anyone going to go to D23? It is a month away (Aug 23 - 25). Since there is a planned panel for TROS most are assuming the new trailer will be released. I also have to wonder if we get to see new merchandise as most of it has been kept under wraps. It would seem they wanted to throw SDCC goers a bone by giving them a look at the Sith Trooper. I myself hope they show off some props, especially Rey’s lightsaber.

File under: Possibly Related to TROS... (and overall ST)

So, I found this interesting little blurb about Rey on my desk calendar today.

Believing she is "no one," Rey finds out her life is being shaped by the mysterious power of the Force.

I have just seen this from Dorkside of the Force - the new visual dictionary cover available in December.

...yeah, I read the article. I'm guessing the set they are talking about is the throne room/award room on Yavin IV, just like at the end of the original Star Wars (A New hope). Bookend... and done.
I like that possibility. In Shattered Empire, when Luke secured the two surviving cuttings of the Force Tree that had been in the Jedi temple from that Imperial research installation, he gave one to Poe's mom to plant she she and her family decided to settle. Which was Yavin IV. The other he took to where he was setting up his training center. Presume Ben destroyed it in his rage-quit. So, after lightning toasted the original on Ahch-To, the one on Yavin IV is the last known.

So... basically her arc in the first two ST films so far, including actual dialogue from her and others.

Midichlorians were just another unnecessary layer to a simple and effective concept. The significance of that tree was moot. Sure it had the books, but Yoda says they weren't page turners. Just unnecessary clutter that filled up screen time that could have been better used by better writers.

Well, yes. It's probably nothing, but I'm more referring to the "life-being-shaped-by-a-mysterious-power" bit. It seems to imply *something* is happening to/through her, versus her having any control over it. Like she’s just a vessel for whatever is happening. I’m probably reading too much into it, I just found it interesting and not totally off-key.

So just reading into this, but what if.....Rey is Palps reborn, and discovers this in the depths of the destroyed DS. Luke did say (paraphrasing) “you went straight to the dark, you did not even resist”.

What if this story is about the redemption of Palpatine, the one who started it all?

May be corny but the post above brought that to mind.

*****I added this comment initially from my phone and autocorrect must have supplemented Palpatine with Palestine.

...life being shaped by the mysterious power of the Force... which is to say, everything that happens to her, everything she does, is because of the will of the Force.

After TFA this was one of the biggest Rey theories out there, Palpatine reborn...ugh...if anything I'm thankful to the Last Jedi that my YT recommendations are not full of "Rey theory explained", "Rey is Vader and here's the proof", "Evidence that Snoke is Roger Corman from the Holiday Special"....
Mind you now it's still full of "This is why TLJ is the worse than WW2".

God I love autocorrect...

So her actions, choices, sacrifices etc aren't her own. That concept makes the character a lot less interesting to me.
Well that's how the Force works. The Force controls individuals yet they have free will. What I said about her relationship with the Force could applied to Luke, Anakin....anyone in Star Wars.
