The thermal exhaust port wasn't an oversight, but a design necessity that was deemed well enough protected, being at the end of a narrow trench under heavy enough shielding that nothing could penetrate except capital ship weaponry that the station's turbolaser towers could repel. As General Dodonna said, the station's defenses were designed against a large-scale assault. Pre-Rogue-One, Imperial engineers never expected a small snubfighter to physically penetrate the trench's shielding at the extreme far end from the port where they were weakest and survive all the laserfire from the turrets in the trench. and manage to hit a target that small.

Right. It's really not much of a stretch to think that no one could have conceived of the possible danger.

For example, no one really expected a ice berg to sink the mighty Titanic, and yet...

Hubris makes for some pretty powerful blinders.

It's being released digitally on 3/15, I would assume it will be on Disney+ then
I presume it won't be, just to help preserve sales of the downloads, Blu-ray and DVD. I would expect it to show up there a few months afterward. While I love the convenience of Disney+, I don't want the physical releases to go away.

I just assumed they would sell the download through their own service. I'm not sure how Disney+ works, I assumed it was like prime, certain things are included and others have to be purchased or rented.
So would the download purchase be through another service? I've never bought a download so I'm not sure how that works.

I only download movies when such is included with a Blu-ray purchase. Usually there are at least three services you can use, and I always use iTunes or whatever it is being called these days. You may be able to download direct from Disney, but if so I haven't noticed that option.

So far, everything on Disney+ is included and available to watch to any subscriber, the same way Netflix has worked thus far. Biggest difference is that Disney+ usually includes all or most of the same bonus features that are available on the Blu-ray releases, which Netflix doesn't offer.

Of the big 3/4 only Amazon does that - and they can do it because they simply tie to the existing amazon.com back end. Same ID for prime and amazon so it's a seamless connection. They actually rented and sold stuff that way BEFORE they had the streaming setup so it was even easier to connect.

The other day I was skimming through D+ and just decided to watch Endgame, and yeah, I noticed it wasn't as clear or as loud as the blu-ray. And not even as good as my copy on VuDu.

MINOR SPOILER from film novelization, set to be released 3/17/2020. I think we all assumed this, but the book spells it out:

In the movie novelization, on Exogul Kylo recognizes the Emperor's life support equipment from his Clone Wars study, and realizes that PappaPalp's body is actually a decaying clone, trying to contain Palp's spirit that was released when Vader tossed him down the observation tower shaft on Death Star II.

...on RLM, Mike felt that the ROTJ Palp was a clone, and the "real" Palp was always on Exogul. Which, I think I like better... maybe.

the second option is interesting, though it would run counter to how the emperor's clones always worked in the EU; that they were empty minded slugs he would transfer into. Not that he had multiples of himself running around

Having Exogul be a clone and decaying makes more sense since it necessitates the need to transfer essence and could be an explanation for why force-sensitives should not be cloned (and thus why Jedi were not cloned during the clone wars).

unfortunately, this reverts back to my first argument on why this ending was terrible. What is stopping Palpatine from coming back again with another clone? Or having a follower develop a clone for him. His spirit is still in the ether and Rey didn’t do anything different from Vader when killing him.

That's my theory about what's happening with "The Child" in The Mandalorian, and his importance. He's an attempt at cloning a Force sensitive being.

Maybe there's an in-universe 'x' factor as to why the way he was destroyed this time is permanent. Maybe it has something to do with the participation(?) of "all the Jedi."

Could be true about the Mandalorian and the child. May also be an explanation for why the child is so competent in the force (possibly latent memories of its predecessor). The Yoda species is so mysterious there is no telling.

Problem is then why didn’t “all the Jedi” intervene when the chosen one killed off Palpatine since he was the chosen one. Furthermore, when did Rey gain the ability to summon “all the Jedi” and why would they use her as their vessel (an untrained older student of the new Jedi order and descendent of one of the most powerful Sith in history) vs Anakin (chosen one, trained in their older order and traditions)

I do get what they were trying to do in the ending with the quip of I’m the Sith and I’m the Jedi. It just falls flat because it feels completely unearned.

It's very doubtful it will be on Disney+ on day and date of digital or home release. Frozen II just came out on Blu-Ray and there's no sign of it on Disney+. They definitely want to still capitalize on home release hard copy and digital sales and would probably be similar to how long it takes Netflix to carry a new release.

It now says on Wikipedia that it'll be on Disney+ in October.
