Haven't read through the whole thread so apologies if this was discussed already, but I absolutely LOVED seeing the younger versions of Luke and Leia during Leia's training sequence. I think we need a realistic CGI series or stand alone movie showing our OT characters in this way. Just that brief glimpse of Leia sparring with Luke was way more enjoyable than any of Rey's training sequences IMHO.

If she was dead, why didn't she disappear/force ghost away, like Ben did?

I agree with the mostly dead thing....
Not every Force user that dies, disappears. Qui-Gon didn't, even though he's the one that learns about retaining one's consciousness after death.

so im going to lite the match....

is the JJ edit a real thing? or a internet hoax!?

I have to say there's something that stood out to me, that seems really fishy. And that's the rumored scene where we actually see a bunch of Force ghosts. There is no way Disney/Lucasfilm would pay a bunch of money to get some of these actors back in front of a camera and not use them.

Their voices are in the final cut so we know they were paid by Disney. Everytime an actor is used even if it's reused material the actor gets a royalty fee. So the physical appearance being cut inst THAT far off.

I’m reading the Dark Empire comic series from 1991 at the moment, one of the few major plot points from the EU I didn’t read at the time and so are not familiar with, but I wanted to compare the current movie resurrection of Palpatine to the older version from the comics. There is quite a bit from the comics that is almost directly quoted in the movie. It includes a description of Luke‘s ability in transferring some of his life force to heal others, the same sentence from Palpatine describing that he’s died many times before, etc.. I’m a little surprised how exact the quotes seem, especially given the comments from Kathleen Kennedy about the lack of inspiration to draw on. Looks like a pretty direct copy and paste in bits at least.

Disney is one of the most if not the most powerful company in the world..

Money is no object to them

This is why I wanted to re read all these before I saw the movie but didn’t have the time, That’s really cool

Dark Empire is one of my all-time favorite EU materials. I still have 3 Hasbro figures based off it of Luke, Leia, and Clone Palpatine.

It was one of my favorites as a kid too.. it was so hard finding those figures. I had to get mine from a comic book store.. for stupid prices

Dark Empire figures? Must of been post 1999. That's when i quit. Hasbro's lies and BS (we don't short pack!) along with the scalpers ruined it for me.

I remember. I wanna say the Dark Empire figs wete 2003 ish.

Like your screen name. I have the Thrawn figure but they never made a Cboth one.

Finished the first series, there was also Luke projecting an illusion of himself to fool a Leia, and an ex-girlfriend who could provide a way to fly through Imperial space. I really didn’t notice any beats in the films that specifically reminded me of the books (unless you count Ben Solo/Jacen Solo), but seems quite a bit from this comic that may be more than a coincidence. I‘d love to see some discussion from the creators about the process and if it actually happened like this or not. And now I want a C’baoth figure too haha
