I think there should be an Episode 10 , 11 and 12 but let some years pass and we get a New Saga where the Jedi do return because its what fans want too see happen. I think you can have a story where Rey has a family and has students. Then we Have Ben Alone in the world but he is more in the Grey Area and we could get a new Threat The Sith return or another Universe of pure evil invade the Star Wars Known Universe.

Now at 95% on RT with 201 reviews, only 11 fall into the Rotten category. If it holds that it will be 1% higher then ESB.
Hey Bryancd , apologies in advance if this has been explained before , but was RT ( Rotten Tomatoes ? ) scoring system around when ESB came out ?

Hi all.

I have read through alot of threads here, decided to join up.

As a huge Sci-Fi fan, as I see most of you are,

Ive read through many disappointments about this movie.

I have one word for everyone.

Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Toy Story, The Jungle Book, Frozen. The Force Awakens.

Well that was abit more than one word, But I think you all get the idea.

No but their methodology of aggragating reviews to a binary positive or negative can be applied to reviews of older films.

Not really...

Hi

Saw it last night...am still a bit in the phase of letting it sink in...
My opinion so far...it was way better then TFA but not as good as R1, which I regard as the No.2 movie behind ESB now! For an old timer like me, I saw "Star Wars" in the movies before it even became ANH, it was another "say good by" movie in a way I do not like. All "my" heros seem to die fast now without getting a final show down as a team! That sucks!!!
I did very much like the new sets, the casino town, Dubrovnik, was really cool! Finally space battles again...and good ones :) . Since IX will be a JJ movie again I think that was it for the original canon. Couple of interesting new props on the helmet front (Hasbro, do you read?). The closing szene with the boy and the broom I liked a lot! Let's just hope they pick up from there.
I will probaly watch it again over the weekend, have to find a theater though that shows 2D and the English version. I hope the humor szenes are better in English then in German. All in all a good movie...but now back to Harmy’s Star Wars Trilogy Despecialized Editions! Still my favourite SW versions...can you tell I am getting old?

cheers
Uwe

PS: Have to get such a ring ;-) ...I hope the prop industry reads that!

LOL ! That’s quite an explanation . In that case , how did the Original ‘ STAR WARS ‘ - aka ANH rate ?

My point being,

They were all great movies, fun to watch and very entertaining. Deep story lines? No. Wow factor? No. Intellectual dialog? No.

TFA was a disappointment, It was the first SW movie, I actually went "HUH??" (well other then the Tarzan voice wookie did in the Battle of Kashyyk on ROTS).

But I know Disney, so it was accepted, and watchable.

Im happy someone decided to continue SW, but its not a Lucas film. So dont expect that.

LOL! With the exception of the Wow factor I’m not sure those criteria apply to any Star Wars film. They are popcorn films, not Citizen Kane.

Maybe they will make episode VIII.5.:behave Cause they will have to cram alot of info in the last.

Not true. Fans do not fall in love with characters from a popcorn movie. Star Wars, Character and story depth.

I never eat popcorn while watching SW ;)

Star Wars is 3rd in my ranking...and only because it lacks in execution a lot due to being a. very old and b. a "low" budget movie! Remember it was only the 3rd movie of George after THX 1138 and American Graffity. Idea and story wise it's the holy grail, the beginning of a new way of doing films that are not only films but create a life style. GL tried to beef it up later but again, with the technical abilities of those days, it went nowhere. "Star Wars" is a "stand alone" movie, a classic...but looked at in relation to what came afterwards it is lacking a bit.

cheers

George did consult with them and they thanked him and went their own way.

If that’s true. , then it’s kinda sad . Don’t know why but , that reminds me of the stories I’ve read concerning how difficult it was for him to get the 1977 Original off the ground without ‘ selling - out ‘ his vision of it .

And thats another reason the OT and even the prequels are so liked. Not only the story and depth of character build. But Lucas himself, a character that we grown to love and study.

George is still a consultant, now that does'nt mean they will DO anything with his ideas as already been shown

Saw TLJ today, imagine chunks of ESB and ROTJ shuffled up and put on screen with added Disney ‘magic’ and that’s it...
I thought it was hideous and as expected.

Not really, once they ditched his ST concept ideas he walked.

Colour me ‘ Stupidly Stuck ‘ behind rose coloured glasses , but in my aged head Star Wars isn’t Star Wars without GL , even if he had been relegated to a minor role of ‘ consultant ‘ on future projects after selling his hard won franchise . I’m wishing he hadn’t .
