Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

IMO the idea of getting to revisit Han Solo in a 100% George-Lucas-free environment may have trumped anything Ford felt about it before 2012.

Ford & Lucas are probably on good terms offscreen but Ford never enjoyed being directed by him. (Who does?)

Not to divulge any spoilers, but I think he has actually mellowed a bit in regards to the character and I am sure the use of Han in TFA was sufficiently compelling to bring him in. And Harrison is very much a team player and supportive of the projects he does regardless of his feelings about the work itself or character. He's old school that way, look how he chastised Shia when he was bad mouthing Crystal Skull.

I don't really care what he thought years ago, I just think it's cool that he was apparently really into it once he got back on the set. JJ said he was surprised as well because of what Ford said in the past. I also wouldn't put it past Disney to dangle Indy in front of him to get him to do more SW.

I don't think Han is going to die in TFA. For one thing, given HF's past oral history, it would be far too predictable: everyone would see it coming. For another, from what we hear from very reliable sources, he's excited about the character again. Would he be that excited if he was only coming back to be offed by the end? He's never been afraid to follow through with his punches; I don't think he'd put on an act just to please people.

I would think working with friends is a great way to keep "some" costs down (maybe not much)...
In more ways than one. For example, Clint Eastwood likes to use the same crew members on movies he's directing. For him it started out as simply hiring the people who he knew were competent and would get the job done properly, but after working with them over the years he says they've learned how he likes the lights, the camera(s), etc., set up for each shot, so they no longer need to have time-consuming discussions about such things--the crew just sets things up, they shoot the scene, and they move on to the next setup for the next scene. It saves time and money, which is one of the reasons Eastwood's movies are almost always completed before the expected date and under budget.

There isn't one aspect of what we have seen of this film that has yet to make me cringe or question anything... Except the release date! ;)

I totally agree. Aesthetically everything seems like a right progression and love what I've seen between bridging the old and new. I especially love that nothing looks too shiny brand new. I know this is not TFA related, but also am excited to see these anthology films being made, especially if we finally get that Darth Vader film that shows him in all his prime Sith Lord days hunting down the remaining Jedi.

I generally agree too and I like Rebels more than I thought I would. I didn't care for the The Clone Wars at all. My only real hesitation in regards to TFA is the survival of Luke's TESB lightsaber. I'm very interested to see how they explain that. My initial reaction is that it seems pretty unlikely and silly but we'll see I guess.

Maybe cloud city has a magnetic system in those utility chutes for the sake of catching valuables that may end up falling by mistake :devil

Yeah, I've always been fuzzy on that. Some sources say it's his hand (and saber?) and some say it's part of the weather vane that he lands on...
