Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Good luck guys & dolls. I'm going to the Detroit one unless I get too hammered at the bar after the derby bout Saturday. Maybe I can get a part as a hung over secret sith clan member. :D

Awesome!

Anyone else going to the Detroit one? If so, look for me. I'll be the one wearing the long-sleeved blue t-shirt with putmeinstarwars.com on the front of it.

Don't judge me. :)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

What are the casting calls like? Any idea what to expect? I figure I'm in the area I may as well go you know?

Should be fun lol

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Thanks so much for the support guys!

They didn't specify which character the role was for but I get the feeling that it's pretty important. I'm guessing Han and Leia's son (purely based on speculation and the impression I got when talking to Maryelle Aviano). They gave me a generic script to remember lines from. It's one page and includes "Thomas" and "Rachel". From what I gather they're close and possibly related.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

That's so awesome! Did a lot of people show up? It sounds like each casting call is hit and miss. The UK ones had so many people they shut the lines down before they even got started and the St. Louis one had hardly anyone with nobody really showing up early it sounds like. Tomorrow is the one here. They've been talking about it on the radio and news and everyone is posting about it on Facebook* so I'm thinking there might be a lot of people at this one.

(*Granted, 90% of my Facebook feed is fellow actors, which might skew this a bit.)

Are you doing video callbacks or in person callbacks? Let me know when to send my good vibes in your direction!

There were a lot of people! I'd say at least 2,000. The line went for blocks from the Park West Theatre (where the auditions were held). I heard there were people who started lining up at 4 am the morning of. I got there around 11 and I was probably around the halfway point of the line. Everyone who showed up got to meet with casting crew. I heard Aviano stayed an hour extra just to make sure she met with everyone that showed up which I thought was really nice of her. You're going to get to spend about a minute with her, possibly two if she's interested. It's really simple. Just be pleasant. Definitely bring a résumé and/or headshots if you have them. If she likes you she's going to give you a form to fill out your contact info. This is for if they decide to call you back. She might just tell you right there (she told me) but either way they need you to fill out the form so they know how to reach you. Anyone who went to the meet and greet gets to do an in-person callback. The video submissions are only for those who couldn't make it to a meet and great.

I wish you the very best tomorrow!! Break a leg!

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Alas, it just won't be the same.

I'm sure I'm not the only one over the years that whenever they heard the drums and the trumpets before other Fox films thought, "damn, now I wan't to watch Star Wars!" That Fox intro music is like going up on a roller coaster towards the big drop and then seeing it in front of you and getting that rush of excitement before you plummet.

Well, as an original, old enough, first gen SW fan, yes I associate that fanfare with the film but I am perfectly fine moving on. Why are so many so pedantic is beyond me.

*shrug* People like what they like, and most people don't like change even if it's something minor and relatively unimportant. I'll miss the Fox fanfare, but I'll get over it quickly if the movie's good. :D

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

IF they stick disney in front of it, they'll do something tronish with the castle (as in make look like it's from the SW universe) and create their own 'fanfare' music.

It won't be the same, but i'm guessing it'll be decent.

Probably because there are many people who are waiting for this next movie as a way to recapture that youthful experience of seeing the OT for the first time. Part of that experience was the opening music. I personally would prefer it but of course understand also why it won't be included.
