Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I didn't have a problem with the non-human Jedi in the Prequel Trilogy. What I did have a problem with was how the Jedi were represented in the Prequel Trilogy. I mean, the Jedi have been peacekeepers and warriors for generations, they're trained in use of The Force, and yet they're almost eradicated in the blink of an eye while barely putting up a fight because none of them saw (or sensed) Order 66 coming? Gimme a break!

In the novelization of ROTS it touches on this a bit, unlike the movie. I thought is explained it decently. The basic thing was that the war was set up to get the Jedi out of thier element.....and the fact that the clones were not acting with malice when they excuted Order 66 caught made it more difficult for the Jedi to see it coming.

The novel also had a better fight description with Palpatine and the Jedi Masters where he set them up and recorded it so that he could show everyone how he was the victim and the Jedi were trying to take over....

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

The Empire as a remnant force, as seen in the Jedi Knight video games can still pose a viable threat to the rebellion. I wouldn't want to see the vyogusoidiufu vong or whatever they are called as they would no doubt end up as a massive hoarde of characterless CGI nasties, which makes me remember the Geonosians from AOTC, no thanks

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Didnt Palpatine cloud the "vision" for Yoda and the council? I think the clones werent aware of the plans at all. Only Palpatine. Order 66 could have been written as: kill X if asked. Then Palpatine only needed to point at the jedis.

"Directive 4: Classified."

Am I the only one wouldn't mind a Kyle Katarn movie? Not necessarily with a plot from the JK games but involving a rebuilt academy on Yavin and fights against Imperial Remnant. A couple of Jedi, lots of Stormtroopers and most of all, visuals and props reminiscent of the OT !

Sent from my iPho..... just kidding!

With the death of the Emperor, the Empire is no more. There is still the military and whether they will subject themselves to Republic rule under their previous enemy; the former rebel alliance and all the free worlds in the galaxy.

I hope the new space station under construction is the deadly Epcot ball!

Kidding... I agree with the post higher up that i'd like to see a new story and not something translated directly from an existing novel to keep it fresh where we don't know what's going to happen (unless you read spoilers, of course).

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

They're also going to reanimate Peter Cushing to play the role of an undead Tarkin. And this is how the zombie apocalypse will begin.

OK! Magazine: First For Celebrity News :: Bizarre :: Zac Efron favourite to play Luke Skywalker in new Disney Star Wars films

"Zac Efron is the bookies' favourite to play Luke Skywalker in the new Star Wars films."

"But he won't be alone in the battle, with Jamie Bell, Shia Leboeuf and Ryan Reynolds all in line.

Meanwhile, Ryan is also the favourite to play Han Solo while Emma Stone is top choice for Princess Leia."

This is "worst case senario" stuff. I have to admit, I'll be a bit disappointed if they do indeed end up focusing on Luke Skywalker and all of the other familiar characters, BUT... the idea of Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, and Billy Dee Williams all returning to reprise their rolls does sound pretty damn awesome.

Just, please, don't recast our beloved Star Wars characters with these younger actors/actresses. Emma Stone would be absolutely horrible as Leia. She's a pretty horrid "actress" in general, I really don't want to see her in a Star Wars flick.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I'm fairly sure no-ones going to recast old characters - it's just a way for papers and websites to talk about this without actually having any news to report.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Yeah, you're right. Still, the thought makes me sick to my stomach.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

The story they choose to tell isn't as important as how they choose to tell it. I'm sure they are going to make something aimed at kids, but will it be more like Harry Potter, something adults can enjoy as well? I would love a more serious look into the star wars universe, with intense scenes and gritty dialogue, but I can't imagine I'll ever see anything like that.

Dark and gritty would be awesome. I mean, Return was pretty dark, perhaps they'll continue in that direction? I suppose it really depends on who ends up directing, and of course who writes the script.

I'm really hoping that Disney will seperate the kid oriented stuff from the adult oriented stuff. Maybe the upcoming trilogy can be the darker, grittier, more adult Star Wars we've always wanted, and Disney can present the more kid oriented stuff in the form of tv shows.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Sadly I don't trust disney to give us anything but kid oriented stuff. I mean the Kingdomhearts game series is serious kind of dark but Disney has very little to do with it since Squaresoft makes it. Otherwise it would be nothing but sunshine, rainbows, and talking animals.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I'm fairly sure that one of the conditions of sale is that Disney respect the tone of the property, the movies at least, and not turn them into something aimed at preteens.

I could be wrong but I would assume Lucas has enough love for Star Wars that he would at least make sure it goes to a company that will do right by it.

Then there's the Holiday Special with Wookie porn. And the prequels with retarded Roger-roger robots, all under Lucas. Let's face it, he was looking for a way to make a buck, that's all it came down to.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Personally I'm not a fan of Matthew Vaughn, at all. I'd like to see Duncan Jones handle Episode VII.

And although I know it'll never happen, part of me really wants to find out what a Star Wars movie from either Ridley Scott or Terry Gilliam would be like.
