Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Please, Please Please - Nobody from Lost, or any other show/movie where they can't write a real ending to save their lives!

I'm so sick and tired of these guys being called genius's that I feel ill every time they are associated with something I really like (Abrams Star Trek). If you can't write an ending to your own f'ing story - you'r enot a good writer, despite the fact you have good ideas on how to start a story. Why is that so hard to comprehend?

I'd welcome a clean slate, new story, no EU.

Keep C3PO and R2D2 as the continuing thread.

Have a cameo by Mark Hamill passing the lightsaber to a new generation and bring on the cool stuff.

I wouldn't even mind if they had George write the outline and have proper writers and script doctors make it into a proper story with tension, drama and an actual plot and real characters.

I'm cautiously optimistic for this one.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

At least it's not Bay/Labeouf...

I'm just going to wait for official news. There's going to be a tornado of mixed news from many "sources" around the net. It'll be hard to know who to believe and not believe.

For all we know the pre-production and script has been underway for some time under the radar without us even knowing it while Lucas was working out the details with Disney and his transition out in retirement.

Disney is HUGE though. With their investments and crew behind them i'm sure they can pull things together pretty quick.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Ditch the Skywalker clan and forge into new territory.

The Max Rebo clan should be the focus!

First set pic revealed! They are on a roll over there at Disney Studios:

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

It would make absolutely no sense to have an episode 7, 8 and 9 in a movie series about the Skywalker family and not have a Skywalker headlining - by which i mean starring in - it. I don't understand why so many people keep suggesting otherwise. To quote from a different Sci-Fi series altogether, "That's illogical."

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Do NOT recast the original characters at all costs.

If they must use the original characters, then very sparingly or simply spoken of in the past.

I suppose the droids could go on forever of course.

I think it has been. Over in the Disney thread, there's a link to an EW article dated yesterday where Mark Hamill says Geoge told him and Carrie 'last August' that 7-9 were a go and Kathleen Kennedy was going to be in charge. To me, last august is August 2011. If it was August 2012, it be 'a couple months ago'. The implication is that this is been in the works for a long while. I saw a disney comment somewhere yesterday saying they were well into pre-production.

This seems to be the case. The dates fit perfectly with the time frame in which negotiations first started between Disney and Lucasfilm. It was said in the conference call with the stockholders that they began discussing this deal less than 2 years ago.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I know it's a pipe dream, but here's hoping they can keep the plot lines as secrete as they kept the deal and the pre-production work.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I hope they hire a good fitness coach and dietician for Fisher so she can get at least closer to the Leia physique. Hammill is looking a little rougher, but he's not too bad.

AND FOR GOD'S SAKE DO NOT USE HAYDEN CHRISTENSEN AS THE ANAKIN FORCE GHOST!

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

No no no no no no to all and everything. Let it go Disney and focus on Howard the Duck where nothing really matters..

No Hammill, no Fisher, No, no no no no NO!

It has to be set years after Jedi when the old cast are long gone or it will be......oh I cant be bothered its to much effort even thinking about the outcome of all this.

I wonder if they bought the Archive? Anyone know?

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Ford has always been pretty vocal about his disdain for Han Solo and has said, on a couple of occasions, that Han should have died. As cool as it would be to see Ford reprise the role, I believe he would be the one who wouldn't come back.
