Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Yeah shaky cam, chase vehicle POV, these don't bother me that much. It's when the camera starts to do barrel rolls and vertigo kicks in.

Call me crazy but when i go to a movie I want my chance of puking to stay under 10%. That clip from the teaser on the big screen will probably push thing up to 35% chance.
I've actually found the bigger the screen I watch the trailer on, the less disorienting the Falcon shot is.

Also, i loved TPM in 3D and am still sad the rest have been shelved. It was very subtle and not "IN THREE-DEEEEEEE!!!" The title and opening crawl going back into the screen, the subtitles hovering just above it, all the space ans pod-race shots... There are very few films i think actually benefit from 3D. This worked, and the rest of my short list is Tron and Frozen.

Actually, they recently screened AOTC in 3D in LA and confirmed that ROTS is also complete. I bet we see them eventually.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens

I personally prefer a stable camera shot. I feel it adds to the believability of a scene. I suppose it depends on how you look at the purpose of a camera in a film - is it disembodied all-seeing eye which can move anywhere, or is a a piece of hand-held equipment? The former can obviously be a dead giveaway that the scene is cgi, because you don't typically see the same king of motion in a live action shot. I also like the documentary filming approach, and this is not what we are seeing here.

I'm not flaming, badmouthing or am I saying there is anything wrong with this kind of shot by the way.

The sooner the better ...and for any PT or OT Star Wars in a theater - I don't like 3D, but I'll take it if I can.

But, I don't expect it will be anytime soon....

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens

So jazzed for this. Really taken back and pleasantly surprised by the 4chan potential spoilers. Hopefully some of them hold to be true.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens

So there is an autistic boy that attends the school where I teach. He is a huge Star Wars fan and will often stop me in the hall for a quick lightsaber battlle. I just asked him if he had seen the new trailer and he hadn't. I brought him to the library and put the trailer up on the big screen and cranked the audio. It was so much fun to see how excited he got. With all the nitpicking, (and I don't mean that in a bad way) it reminded me exactly what Star Wars is all about. I have that warm fuzzy feeling again. :)

No more foliage moaning and sand particle placement deniers !!!!

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens

There's really nothing there that couldn't have been extrapolated from all the concept art, rumors past and present, and/or the trailer. Not saying that none of it is/could be true, just that nobody should be getting their hopes up just yet.

The Adam Driver part jibes with set photos where he seemed to be at the Rebel Base in Greenham Common. And Gwen's character seems to be more and more confirmed. The Serkis bit is new to me as is the Lupita angle.

And perhaps more confirmation this is Boyega in their shot...

If the saber is a "junk" saber as opposed to an "ancient" saber, then they may be exhaust ports and nothing more. They certainly more resemble flame then a lightsaber beam.
