I always like how in that scene Luke had time to try it when he landed about two seconds before Han.

Actually, you're forgetting the trouble Han had getting Chewie to go down the chute. That was a little more than two seconds... I forget though, who went first, Luke or Leia?

I've always wondered-- if they couldn't blast out of the trash compactor because it was magnetically sealed--how come more doors in the SW universe are not magnetically sealed? Seems like an easy way to be blaster proof.

It's like a one trick pony that was never used again.

Luke was next to last with Han following literally right after him. There would have been no time for Luke to shoot. Han would have fallen into a ricocheting blast.

Maybe Chewie sensed the Dianoga, panicked, fired, & Luke fell into the ricocheting blast. Maybe the 'We' was figurative & not literal.

Maybe, like when Luke gets spat out under Bespin, there was a trap door that had to open before dropping them into the compactor. That would have given Luke time to shoot. We just see the time lapse between Luke and Han dropping out.

I kind of assumed when he said "I already tried it. It's magnetically sealed"... it meant he tried the door and it wasn't opening... not that he necessarily shot at it. Even as a kid I thought it odd that they yelled at Han for making the same mistake they JUST made themselves (shooting at the door).

Man that lid is awesome. I like the other 'standard' trooper helmet for Ep VII but I wish they'd gone with this one as the main instead.
