Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I say Fan made, rented for the cover shot. mid section looks really lacking.

As far as cast goes: History tells you how it needs to be.

Episodes 1-3 star filled roles worst box office in Franchise all 3 films.

Episodes 4-6 Lesser known actors who went on to become huge stars Highest grossing film of all time and two more highest grossing of all time in top 20.

Stop trying to make a film full of stars instead make it a film that makes stars just like the originals. if not probly going to be just as bad as the prequels. you need actors who can be molded into roles not ones who come into the shooting with pre concived ideas of in their tiny brains how a certain race should sound act etc! they need to be clay that the director can mould into characters. not that a few half decent actors who can "Become" the roles they are given wouldn't hurt, I mean not all of the acting sucked in the prequels. Ewan was great as was more than a handful of others.

While I agree, it wasn't the stars that were the issue. It was the script, the director, and the editing. The whole PT cast was a bunch of people with accolades for past and future performances made to look like marionettes. I mean, the woman in Black Swan and the woman in AOTC are not the same actress. The guy in Velvet Goldmine and Obi Wan? Are those the same person?! It wasn't the actors, it was Lucas. He turned them into meat puppets.

In fairness, the acting is iffy large chunks in the OT too, but damn at least there was chemistry!

When I say Star Wars needs to be reinvented, this is what I mean, you need to get that "Secret Formula"(how I call it) The OT had, that chemistry, but I guess it's pretty difficult to get that same kind of Originality when a standard is set. Before A new Hope I haven't seen anything that big in Space battles or space cruising, after that came series like BSG, the standard was set.Try to come up with such an Impact movie-wise today.....next to impossible I think, it's all been done to death.Originality in Eye Candy is not the way to go to create the Impact needed I think, maybe going back in time is, reinvent the wheel when it comes to filming..Close-ups....battle shots. As to casting actors.....simple enough actors, with huge potential that hasn't been shown yet.

Just a suggestion on my part:

-Anthony Starr...dream mode on-Could have been greater as the new Mad Max than Tom Hardy-dream mode off , this guy has so much potential as a convincing Bountyhunter or some other kind of Mercenary....seeing him portraying a Star Wars character convincingly, instant win, this guy has got to be the next Mel Gibson.

Considering filming is due to start in just over a couple of months I'm curious to see how the training has been going for Mark and Carrie and what kinda shape they are in right now. Can't seem to find any recent pictures though...

Carrie Fisher was just on The Big Bang Theory so this is pretty recent.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Besides the great hollywood actors of our age...who are still alive and able to fill such roles, I was thinking about almost forgotten Icons out there . Like Sho Kosugi for instance , who worked with Jean Claud van Damme in one of his first movies, Sho Kosugi is a living Ninja Movie Icon, as a Sith, Jedi or maybe even a Mandalorian Clan Master (if ofcourse addressed in the new Saga), he could still be a tremendous character. There are a few more living Movie Icons out there ofcourse, I loved how Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee were involved in Star Wars, would have loved to see Vincent Price and John Carradine being fit somewhere in there aswell, but at least we got two Masters of Horror in there.

I'd just like to point out, with a tip of the hat to the MST3K crew, that there's no Kosugi like Sho Kosugi, like no Kosugi I know.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Well, consider that the dude is married to Sarah Michelle Gellar, who strikes me as a pretty grounded woman, particularly when it comes to matters of being a "celebrity" in modern society. It's not really that surprising, therefore, that he chooses not to dye his hair dark, and simply says "Screw it. If John Slattery can do it, so can I."

Frankly, I applaud aging gracefully. There's no need to go through the tortures of the damned. Folks like him and Jamie Lee Curtis get a thumbs up from me.

But then I've got plenty of grey in my hair, so I'm probably biased. ;)
