But R2-D2 is a droid, not a robot.

So that one instance from the very first Star Wars production ever means that, despite every other instance to the contrary, we can call R2-D2 a robot. Do you know that LucasFilm (now Disney) owns the an actual trademark to word droid? Calling R2 a robot at this point would be like calling Kirk T. Kirk "James R. Kirk" because, hey, they used it in his very first episode so that's what we should call him.

I always felt that dialog was flubbed by Hamill.... or GL made that mistake in the script because like Jeyl said, there are no robots... they are called droids. :D

TBH, Jeyl, i was actually being a little flippant.....i've always regarded them as Droids and found the term Robot....demeaning....

Um guys....

But R2-D2 is a droid, not a robot.

JJ's production company is called "BAD ROBOT"...... badrobot_03.jpg

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Jeyl, are you equally offended by the 1138 references?

1138 wouldn't nearly be as intrusive as calling R2 a bad robot. Although I think it would be cute if he renamed his studio Bad Droid when it's affiliated with Star Wars.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Luke will no doubt be a full on Jedi I just hole they don't go for the knee jerk and have him slip into the dark side and then his nephew has to take him out - I'd rather see the Nephew (Anakin Solo??) go bad and Luke needing to employ his Padawans to find and kill him - this leading to Leia and Han turning against Luke.

If they made Luke go to the Dark Side I would have to jump up and yell "bullsh*t!" and then disavow SW forever. I mean the freaking Emperor tried to turn him and he didn't so what would make him turn? I vote a take out place shorting an item, but still they shouldn't have anyone fall to the Dark Side.

Funny. That's how I feel about killing off Han or any of the other OT characters.

Maybe messing with the OT stuff is just a bad idea all around. Yet another reason to have their inclusion be relatively minimal.
