Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Hearing Chloë Grace Moretz, aka Hit Girl, is set to break big news soon.. With the petition etc going around, could it be news on being cast as Jaina Solo??

I think she is a great actress, and I think she would be great for a Star Wars movie, but I don't think they are ready to cast anyone. I don't think they even have a story yet. They probably only announced Ford, Hamill, and Fisher because they wanted to be sure those actors would be willing to return before they wrote anything.

Meanwhile, Billy Dee is still waiting by the phone.

As for Jaina Solo, does anyone even know to what extent, if any, they will follow the EU?

Bottom line: no. Nobody knows. The supposition is that they'll treat it like a buffet and take what they want and leave the rest. Kinda like the pre-ANH-era stuff alluded to in the EU books being either outright disregarded, ignored, or in some cases (e.g. Coruscant) lifted for further use.

STAR WARS EPISODE 7 to Film in U.K. | Collider
This was already speculated, but now is officially confirmed with a press release.

Hip Hip... Hurray! It's like going home for a reunion...!

The prequels were shot a great deal in Australia, and although credit there is credit due to the people involved, there's something to be said for returning Star Wars to England. I'm chuffed!!! It's the 1970s all over again!

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

The one shining hope for me (as someone who hopes the original cast is in the film as much as possible) is you don't push Ford to be in a movie for only a glorified cameo - there must have been something juicy they put into his contract to get him back in the role - I'm thinking it's a death scene. Also, why even bother with the original cast in the first place if they aren't to be heavily featured - They could have started these films whenever they wanted - Luke will no doubt be a full on Jedi I just hole they don't go for the knee jerk and have him slip into the dark side and then his nephew has to take him out - I'd rather see the Nephew (Anakin Solo??) go bad and Luke needing to employ his Padawans to find and kill him - this leading to Leia and Han turning against Luke.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Would not at all be surprised by a Han death scene....wasn't Harrison lobbying that he should've been killed off in ANH?

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I'm all for Hans death.. And want C3P0 or someone to have a go at R2D2 for doing something wrong, and yell "Bad Robot.."

Most accounts state that happened either before or during filming of Return of the Jedi. Ford suggested Han Solo should sacrifice himself somehow in order to save Luke, Leia, and/or Chewbacca, probably because he (Ford) had read the script and realized Solo wasn't particularly important to the main story. Needless to say, Lucas disagreed with the suggestion.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I thought Kasdan wrote a version where Solo dies and George had him change it. This is the same version where Lando not Leia turned out to be the "other" Yoda spoke of, so this would have been when the screenplay was commissioned right after Empire. Either way - SOLO MUST DIE!!!!

Wait...Lando was The Other????? Really?

Also, Lando was supposed to die escaping the second Death Star....no more Falcon.....and they changed that too...i can understand why, i mean, right at the climax of a trilogy and they destroy the Falcon and kill Lando and the awesome Nien Nunb??? That would have been a bummer....

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Bingo !!!! 9 episodes. I bet that as part of the sell off, GL made one of the main points of the contract that his notes / rough screenplay for the final 3 eps had to be followed through...Too much supposition about the directors and other garbage are being being thrown around but, has anyone actually seen the contract ? I bet it is commercial in confidence. So why thrash and trash something that has not even been yet been made ?

Although I don't agree with the conclusion (there has always been a huge extended universe in SW that many SW fans love and that has been keeping SW alive for decades) I think from a movie perspective this is an interesting point. However did GL not admit himself that he initially had 9 episodes plotted out?

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

What the hell do you guys have against Han Solo? Leave him to a peaceful retirement. Why do we have to see him die? So what that Ford said he wanted to die? That doesn't mean he's right or that it's a good idea. Tell you what. Let's kill all the OT characters. Han and Chewie ram the Falcon into a Dark Side Luke's repurposed Star Destroyer, which then careens out of the sky and lands on the Coruscant Senate building, killing Leia and all the other old characters who had assembled for an emergency session of the Senate.

There. Happy now?

Lando lives!

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Nope. Everyone dies. Wedge, Lando, Mon Mothma, Ackbar, Maj. Derlin, Gen. Rieekan, and so on and so forth. They all DIE. Every one of them. We kill off EVERYONE'S favorite hero because that's dark and dramatic and stuff.
