Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Post-release)

No Poe was conceived of Yavin after the events of Shattered Empire and Endor.
Yavin was death star one endor was death star two so you are both right in a way just mixing up death stars lol
Easy to do ,really hoping we won't have the same problrem with the star killer base battle in this trilogy

Force Awakens cameos by Ewan McGregor, Frank Oz and Daniel Craig confirmed

Entertainment Weekly has a whole batch of inside scoops on Star Wars: The Force Awakens Easter eggs, and it goes without saying that the following contains SPOILERS, so, you know, don’t say we didn’t warn you.

First up is one of the few connections The Force Awakens shares with the prequels, namely the voice of Ewan McGregor, voice of Obi-Wan Kenobi and arguably the most popular character to emerge from that trilogy. You can hear him, along with a few other notable voices, cry out to Rey (Daisy Ridley) during the scene where she makes contact with Anakin/Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber.

“The idea of the voices was, we wanted the audience to feel – but not necessarily be presented right in your face — this idea that familiar, Force-strong voices were connecting with her. At least as well as they could,” Abrams says. “You do hear a little bit of Yoda. You hear Luke yelling out, ‘Nooo!’ from that moment in ‘Empire.’ And you hear Obi-Wan at the end say, ‘Rey … these are your first steps.’ Here’s the cool part: We asked Ewan McGregor to come in and do the line. And he was awesome and we were very grateful. He was incredibly sweet and handsome, and all that stuff. Then he rode off on his motorcycle. Literally the coolest voice over actor ever.”

Another voice you hear in the scene is that of Frank Oz, a.k.a. Yoda, who has also been lending his famously bad syntax in reprisals of the character for Disney XD’s “Star Wars Rebels.”

“He was incredibly generous and came in to Bad Robot, where we had a recording area, and he was doing Yoda, saying a number of lines we gave to him,” Abrams says of Oz’s (slight) return to the franchise. “This whole experience has been one outrageous moment after another. Just watching Frank Oz, you look at him and talk to him and his voice is very deep. I don’t know why I would have thought he sounded like Miss Piggy! He was very generous to say, ‘Whatever makes the movie better, I’m happy to help out.’”

One truly surprising cameo comes from an actor who long ago became one with the Force… Sir Alec Guinness. Turns out Bad Robot producer Bryan Burk secretly created a digital resurrection of Guinness as Kenobi saying the word “Rey,” much to Abrams’ delight.

“I said, ‘That’s cool, is that the thing from Ewan McGregor?’” Abrams recalled. “He said ‘No, we took a line from Alec Guinness saying ‘Afraid.’”

Although most enjoyed the film overall, many have complained that, much like Abrams’ 2009 Star Trek revival, The Force Awakens is filled with many plot points that either go unexplained or fall under the “insane coincidence” category. One point that would qualify for both is the fact that R2-D2 has apparently been in some kind of robotic depression coma for a decade-plus until the end when he miraculously wakes up for some reason to show everyone the rest of the map to Luke Skywalker that he had this whole time. If that sounds more like a plot convenience than solid storytelling, J.J. Abrams agrees with you!

“BB-8 comes up and says something to him, which is basically, ‘I’ve got this piece of a map, do you happen to have the rest?’” Abrams said. “The idea was, R2 who has been all over the galaxy, is still in his coma, but he hears this. And it triggers something that would ultimately wake him up. While it may seem, you know, completely lucky and an easy way out, at that point in the movie, when you’ve lost a person, desperately, and somebody you hopefully care about is unconscious, you want someone to return.”

Finally, EW confirms (albeit through an unnamed source) that despite 007 star Daniel Craig’s massive protests to the contrary, he DOES, in fact, make a cameo in Episode VII as a Stormtrooper, and a prominent one too. You’ll certainly remember the scene where Rey tries out a Jedi mind trick for the first time on her Stormtrooper guard…

“You will remove these restraints and leave this cell with the door open,” Rey commands hesitantly.

“I’ll tighten those restraints, scavenger scum,” the Stormtrooper responds.

And then Rey gets a little more assertive with her command, and the trooper follows suit. The trooper? That’s Daniel Craig.

I'm going to have to go see this again just because of this! McGregor, Guinness, Oz, Stormtrooper Craig? Hell, I'm DEFINITELY going back!

You know what I want?

I want George Lucas to give a review of this movie. A real review.

At this point, he's being raked across the coals by everyone and every right to give an honest review of this movie

I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't like it. And that's fine. I would've liked to have seen him stay on in an advisory position like he said he was gonna do but it sounds like when they didn't go with his treatment, he packed up and parted ways.

I haven't seen any coal raking going on honestly and barely seen any mention of him at all.

Well, I haven't seen a review yet that doesn't rip on the prequels (yet no mention of the clone wars)

and I keep seeing this pop up everywhere:

Re: Star Wars TFA. Warning spoilers and I hate it!!! Haters and Lovers Welcome

Dude, you know I'm a reasonable guy who tests relatively well. That said, I get it just fine; I just don't love it. In fact, I don't have anyone in my immediate center of influence (outside of this forum) who has rated this movie any higher than a 6 on the 10 scale. That's saying quite a bit considering some of the enthusiasts with whom I work/ associate.

I don't think there's anything wrong for some to desire a little more after a 30+ year wait. Sure, a few could articulate themselves better; agreed, this isn't a childhood wrecker, but I swear I saw the same film almost 40 years ago, when it was called Star Wars.

There really is no getting past the fact it's a reboot disguised as a sequel. As I've said. Well done them, but I'd hoped for better. It requires zero effort for me to yield to those who love it. I mean, what's it really matter? Curious how the same courtesy isn't afforded to those who are less enthused.

Love ya just the same. ;)

Rebooquel.
Spread the word.
Lest the remake of ESB is next.

Re: Star Wars TFA. Warning spoilers and I hate it!!! Haters and Lovers Welcome

They did, to regain credibility because of the Prequels

The soft reboot worked,....JJ & crew did it,....now lets hope we can move forward onto the next episodes & not have to keep putting too many little nods or elements from previous films,....it worked for this one, to ensure everyone that we were back on the right track again and that the franchise is in safe hands

I'm looking forward to the REAL Prequel film next year, things have never been better for Star Wars fans,.....and the general movie fans

Heres guys (who strike fear into the shrinking Prequel community) who know what they are talking about:

For those of us that did not want nods and the same ol ANH plot JJ and crew certainly did NOT do it, prequels aside.. Sure for the shareholders they did but that was probably impossible to screw up as far as selling tickets, it's Star Wars. I guess most fans really wanted ANH story all over again they are happy. But I know ANH too well, I don't like pandering and fan service passing as story. Another death star is just off the charts boring, un-creative and speaks volumes of the creative coward Abrams is. If it was not his idea he should have fought that tooth and nail. Nor did I appreciate the trashing of the OT characters lives and characters as set up.

Rogue One I welcome and have fingers crossed.

Re: Star Wars TFA. Warning spoilers and I hate it!!! Haters and Lovers Welcome

TFA draws from ANH & ESB,.....so bring on something new

J

That's not what most fans seem to want is it though? They want the same things over again based on this film's
massive box office success and praise.

Re: Star Wars TFA. Warning spoilers and I hate it!!! Haters and Lovers Welcome

Wow, tough room. This movie had to be a lot of things to a lot of different people. It's really a "damned if you do, damned if you don't situation". I hope you guys like the next installments better and I hope they can move in a more original direction as well.

The great thing about this movie is that it draws elements from the top 2 rated Star Wars films,.....these similarities especially from the first Star Wars movie have been reused twice before,....desert planet & Death Star II/ Trade Federation ship,.....so yes the desert planet & Death Star/ Starkiller Base is a retread,.....the loss of a loved character (Han...again) & leaving us hanging,....dying to see the next instalment echoes ESB......BUT,....the main thing is, for the first time since the OT we have a well scripted (with humour), well acted, excellent SPX movie that gives us that great feeling that we got from the original films,.....the reset switch has been hit,....and now we can look forward with a bright horizon

We honestly are in a better position than what we were 3 years ago,...I have nothing to moan about

Happy days

J

I was thinking about the Daniel Craig cameo yesterday and something came to mind, was his character's ID number TK007?
