Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Post-release)

In other news, someone, namely moi, changed a few things and turned it into this video clip. Kylo Ren with a PURPLE lightsaber.

Which :facepalm youtube/disney banned, world wide, in less than 5 minutes after I had uploaded it to my youtube channel. :(
So here is a vimeo link instead :p

Finally got a chance to read the C-3PO one-shot from Marvel... Good story, I like the meaning that arm has, even if it was after-the-fact. I kinda misted up a bit toward the end. Many feelz. Seeing it in the film is now going to have an extra layer of meaning for me, and I'm actually kinda sad it's back to normal at the end of the film.

did you read it today?!? if so so did i!! today is my first day off in 3 weeks, i ran by my local comic book store to pick up my pile of books. it was the first one i read! i kept seeing spoilers online about the red arm and avoided them.

i really enjoyed the book, at the beginning when we see the arm removed i felt like this was going to be a cheesy stupid marketing ploy. and lost interest in the book.. then couple pages later the book sucks you back in, and it gets better and better.

i totally agree with you, now that red arm means something totally different.. i really want a red arm to display in my room. and now after the book i want one even more

one question though...
they totally left ackbar's story hanging. i wonder if there is going to be series? i see the book is labeled 1. if it was only a 1 issue would they have put the #1 on it? maybe I'm over thinking it. i am not going to be happy if they dont explain more about ackbar and just leave us hanging

i also read Poe Dameron #1 today, i think this is going to be a amazing run! i love the direction they are going

I agree on Poe. :) Sometimes they put a number 1 on a one-shot, sometimes they say "one-shot". I wouldn't read too much into it either way. Regarding your spoiler box, I'm curious about that, too. Obviously, it's immediately acted upon by Our Heroes, and thus resolved by the time we get to the film.

Something else pertaining to both TFA and Episode VIII. Since there's been a lot of debate about this issue, I'd like to strongly recommend to everyone to pick up (or read in the bookstore) Bloodline, which comes out Tuesday. It starts six years prior to TFA -- closer than any other backstory material so far save the C-3PO and Poe comics. Here's a somewhat spoilery review, which I'll quote in large part below:

What's interesting about the first three chapters of Gray's book is that it shows us that just five years out from the catastrophic events of The Force Awakens, everything is trundling along just fine for the Solo family. Leia does express some frustrations about the fact that Han spends so much time hopping around the galaxy, but she seems to understand that such activities are part and parcel of being married to a scruffy nerf-herder. There's also no talk of their son Ben having any troubles, which seems to suggest that his training with Luke Skywalker is still progressing.
[...]

If everything is still A-ok for Leia, Han, and Ben just 5 years out, it would suggest that things are also running along nicely for Luke as well. In the movie it feels as though Luke has been missing for many years, but such is his importance to powerful figures within the galaxy, it's perfectly feasible that he was only ever missing for a year, maybe two.

What is also very likely is that Snoke has already been grooming Ben for a place by his side at this point. Similar to how Palpatine manipulated Anakin, it's likely that Snoke has been working from the shadows, slowly showing Ben the many faults of Jedi teachings.

Interestingly, knowing that Ben is still Ben at this point also rubbishes the theory that it was Kylo Ren who placed Rey on Jakku after he laid waste to Luke's academy. If Kylo Ren has still yet to surface just five to six years before The Force Awakens, there's simply no way it could have been him that dropped Rey off on Jakku when she was roughly seven years old. But come one, you didn't really buy that theory anyway, did you?

...

Nicely done !!! I must admit that I expected Kylo to break into song while wounding Finn "I never meant to cause you any sorrow, I never meant to cause you any pain ..."

The Force Awakens - the musical :p perhaps someone will do that one day haha

Thank you :D I was surprised myself how nicely the music fit where Rey chops up Kylo :lol Pretty much beat by beat.

i remember early leaks, that some members of the knights of oren had purple light sabers. this was way before TFA came out

Editing to the beat is an old technique.

Which I am very well aware of :) though that is not what I did in this case, so just a lucky coincidence :D

Knights of oren?? :confused what?
I stayed lightyears away from all the TFA leaks. I didn't even watch any trailers before I saw the film.

Poor Pablo. Hopefully this can put to bed the Snoke is Plagueis theories for good.

The only thing that would put those theories to bed are the movies themselves, and that's assuming if the writers and filmmakers even want to debunk them. They could by all accounts not explain anything more about Snoke in the future installments that could still leave all the fan theories plausible. Plus JJ Abrams is still involved in this series, isn't he? They are under no obligation to tell the truth when it comes to marketing these movies.

exactly

The events and timeline of the book "Bloodlines" have some serious ramifications for Rey's backstory. I don't think it's a spoiler to say the book takes place 6 years before the events of TFA and Pablo has confirmed Rey has been on Jakku for 8 years at the time of the book. So it seriously challenged the idea that Rey would have been a part of Luke's academy it would have been left in Jakku by Kylo Ren as he's still Ben at this point. It also makes it difficult to see if she is Luke's daughter why he would have left her there before Ben betrays him. It also totally changes how we must look at the flashback events.
