STAR WARS Rebels new animated series!

That was a very enjoyable episode but I did have one problem with it, what happened to that missing pilot? They mention her initially, speculating that the bugs might have taken her, but once the mission starts to rescue Rex, that's all they think about. If that's the way the normally operate then I'd really hate to be a Rebel that's not a regular part of the Ghost;s crew.

The season finale looks to be good but I have to question the wisdom of letting Ezra & Kanan take the Phantom for their date with the Inquisitors. It seems like a very risky thing to confront the Inquisitors with a very good chance of not coming back, so why would they let them go with a ship that forms a part of their other ship? Do the Rebels not have any shuttles or smaller ships to spare? Of course, it does send a nice message saying that you have faith in Ezra & Kanan and that they'll succeed so go ahead and take the Phantom.

I liked this episode. but yeah, they did forget about the pilot. I guess we are to assume she got eaten. maybe they didn't like the troopers armor and that's why he got kept as a stuffed animal to sleep with.

Why did they play darths music randomly at the end, just because ezra tried to communicate?
what's so evil about communication?

just finished watching the episode. it was pretty good. i didnt understand why ezra and kanan didn't slice the heck out of those bugs with their sabers? sabers cutting through AT-AT legs but can't penetrate the bugs?

and what the heck was up with vaders theme and the flying cheshire cat!?!?

Very Star Ship Trooperish with the bugs, but I liked it. Love how once they get Rex back they just bolt...nevermind the female pilot who got taken! Lol

That was my critique too, they mention the pilot but once they start looking for Rex in earnest she's all but forgotten. It would have been nice if they'd thrown in a quick line saying something to the effect that Rex saw her being eaten or something when he was first brought into the spider lair. I guess the crew of the Ghost don't believe in never leave a man behind, at least it doesn't seem to apply to anybody who's not a member of their crew. If it's a member of the Ghost's crew they'll move Heaven and Earth to get them back but if it's some random Rebel, meh, they're on their own.

As much as I like the show one thing kind of bugs me about it and it's their use of call signs, or more to say the inconsistency in using them. My impression is that they use them so that the Empire doesn't know their names which is cool, except they always use their names along with their call signs. So they'll call for Ezra using his Spectre call sign but when he doesn't respond they just yell, Ezra; doesn't that defeat the purpose of their using call signs?

You never know what got cut from the original script. They mentioned in Rebel Recon that there was info about the planet that was cut so you never know. One could speculate that Chopper only picked up one human life sign during his scan so they knew what to expect. Or you could speculate that due to the haste in which they had to exist the lair and no further sign of life they were forced to give up the search. Although I know we would like to think all life is valued, I think it is realistic to accept that people are going to have stronger bonds with some over others.

As far as the callsigns go. I think you can chalk that up to emotions. I am bothered more by the roll call of Red Squadron pilots checking in prior to the attack of the Deathstar. If you have numbers, then you should be checking in by order. It is easier to detect someone not checking in than trying to figure out in your head if all checked in. Plus you do not have the problem of stepping on others communication when they try to check in.

I will say this about the pilot characters: When I posted this, http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=185637&page=70&p=3578478&viewfull=1#post3578478

... I was hoping that we would get some rebel pilot characters that were at least flushed out enough to be minor re-occuing characters. Maybe next season. :(

And be seen without a helmet on all the time. I get that it's probably to save render time by not doing hair but can't we show at least some minor/background characters without a helmet on at all times? It just looks weird to see pilots, and the ship crew, walking around everywhere with their helmets on, it makes you think that they never take them off, ever. They could be eating in the chow hall and have their helmets, hell, they might sleep and shower with their helmets on.

I'm assuming that the helmets have built in bluetooth for their phones and are listening to iTunes most of their day.

So they looked for Rex but not Lt. Whatsherface. Good to know the Rebels have Red Shirts in their ranks.
I'd be taking one of the dead ones Carapaces and making me some blaster proof armor, or at the least a shield.

All good points. How about the hole Ezra lightsaber duel with Kanan? I think a lot of foreshadowing, especially the hole, "Don't turn your back on your enemy?"... " since when are we enemies?" exchange.

More and more I think that it will be Ezra ending Kanan, and becoming an Inquisitor, albeit briefly. Anyone else wonder if Ezra's inability to connect with the Spider aliens was due to him walking the dark side? He was after all mentioning "killing Inquisitors" earlier in the episode.

When they went to save Rex they gave up on the pilot because she was dead. They found all those empty snail/crab guy shells in the spider lair, the empty shells that looked a lot like the pilot's empty helmet.

The crew was shooting like stormtroopers in that episode, 10-20 feet away and they can't hit a 6 inch wide eyeball?

STAR WARS REBELS SEASONS 1 AND 2 SOUNDTRACK ANNOUNCED!

by Corey
Kevin Kiner announced today during Wonder-Con that a Season 1 and 2 soundtrack for Star Wars Rebels will be released! Now this is exciting news as Kevin Kiner really brings it when he scores. I love The Clone Wars soundtrack that was released in 2014 including scores from Seasons 1-6. I would expect this Rebels soundtrack to be released alongside the Blu-ray for Rebels Season 2 around September. Hopefully more details are announced soon.

Actually in Rebels Recon they say they just wanted to show that their are creatures so "old" or unimaginable that they can't be force controlled.

Good point. I figured they were sort of like the Yuuzhan Vong and might exist outside the force. Sort of a nod to the EU. They sure were tough critters!

That was a tight episode, but it was still pretty simple.

The trailer for season 2 was awesome but I feel that it's all been a lead up to the finale. Which means that we'll get one really great episode for the entire season
