I started with my old Story Books from the 80's, to prepare my daughter for the movies. Then we watched the OOT from the 2006 dvds. At 4, she loved them so much, she wanted to blow through the entire series. I tried to keep it slow, reminding her HOW LONG we had to wait, but we basically did a new movie every couple of weeks. She loved 4,6 & 1. 5 was a little too dark for her, and she said 2 was boring. She wanted to watch 3 at that time, but I think I accidentally scared her off by telling her it was a little sad, and that the bad guys win.
We tried Clone Wars, but she didn't like the violence. After my brief summary of 3 & the few eps of CW, I think that threw her off. She likes Rebels, though. I thought the Golden Books might be a way to give her the story of 3 & revisit the series. She's 6 now, and really wants to see Ep. 7 in the theater, so I'm insisting that she watch the OT again - even if she "doesn't like it as much as you do." She knows the story, but it's probably a good idea to get her used to the narrative style again. That and to practice being quiet during the movie.
