Gave it some time, and disappointingly think I'll be skipping this one, this thread and hearing enough from others doesn't sound like it got turned around enough and I don't think I would get the knock out of the park I think the character deserves. Ah well, may Andor deliver.

Probably for the element of surprise. Liam was for a great many years vehemently against doing anything like Phantom Menace/Star Wars again because of all the blue/green screen stuff (which was tame by today's standard).
I'd say that it was hardly tame by today's standards. Most films today are at least filmed on partial sets with CG set extension, something that was done way back in the OT and original 3 Indy movies, the only difference was that they used matt paintings back then, but the concept is the exact same. I read an article stating that one of the PT movies not had all green screen sets, they even had ADR all of their lines in post because the digital cameras that George was using during the film were incredibly noisy. No, the PT was definitely way worse in using CG and green screen for nearly everything.

Those Matt painters are Amazing and been around forever creating superb extentions and often don't get the credit they deserve.

I do like a good comp shot..

The Making of TPM looked like a Trip to Morph Town.. Lol

Lucas created those characters and those stories. They were his changes to his artistic vision, even the ones we huff and puff about. Did that give him a free pass to do whatever? No, I don't think he should've done the PT the way it was done (if at all) and most of the post release alterations of the OT aren't necessary at all. However the argument that Lucas already changed and in some ways almost ruined his own content so why not continue the trend is completely ridiculous.
That's my point though, Lucas's vision of what he wanted for Star Wars changed as often as he changed clothes. So how do you follow someone's vision of something when they have no clear idea of what their vision is for it themselves? Besides, Lucas sold Star Wars to Disney lock stock and barrel and for better or for worse, it's no there's to do with as they please. If Luca cared at all for his "vision" of Star Wars then he either wouldn't have sold the IP or had written something in the contract that while Disney now owns the IP he's still the Idea Man in Chief for the franchise and he gets final say over everything they do with it or something to that effect.

That's the thing though. Disney doesn't do strong female leads, they do strong male leads with breasts. They don't understand that there's a difference between men and women. They are not identical. Women don't have to be Rambo to be worthwhile, yet in every single movie, that's what they're trying to make them. Ellen Ripley didn't need to bench press an alien to be a kick ass character. Sarah Connor didn't need to go toe-to-toe with a Terminator. They were strong, independent women who remained women.

In a world where everything is seemingly interchangeable, modern writers can't figure out what they're doing wrong.

Okay this is so well put, if all the morons of the planet read this, the world would be a much better place!

Its a b
All I know is, I hope that Reva dies by the end of the proposed Reva series, otherwise that makes one more Jedi type to account for during the OT. While I have no problems with Ezra, Ahsoka, & Kanan, adding Reva to the mix, to me, is one Force user/Jedi too many.
Its still a big galaxy, if they use her series to expand, rather than tie back into OT events, I think it could be really cool.

I liked parts of this series, didn't like parts, but overall I enjoyed it. It wouldv'e likley been better as a movie, both to trim the fat and have a bigger budget, but we have to judge it as it is. I think a better director would've helped. Way too dark (in actual light brightness, not tone of the story) and way too much shaky-cam. Some of the acting and story could've likley been helped by a better director too.

I cane up with possible explainations about why Vader - and Kenobi - don't use extreme force powers in the OT. Maybe the last battle with Obi-Wan damaged Vader even more, coupled with the passage of time, caused his body to weaken (for Obi-Wan, it's just his age). Now, Yoda showed us age and physical fitness have no bearing on using the force, but maybe Vader's physical ailments and Kenobi's age also affected their mental fitness, their will. I know that in my own experience, dealing with physical problems often affects the ability to concentrate, and using the force takes a lot of concentration. So Vader and Ben may have had subsequent issues connecting with the force. Idk. Just my thoughts.

I mean, the real reason is that they changed the force powers over the years - you can probably blame the videogames on part of it. Plus, there's the desire by the Star Wars content creators to try to make each force battle bigger and better than the last, to amp up the action. So naturally, they want to push it, especially with technological advancements in visual effects.

As a kid, I always thought that Vader was just getting weaker from age, hence why he seemed to openly display less Force powers in RotJ, and why Palpatine wanted to replace Vader with Luke. It didn't help that Sebastian Shaw looked like he could have been Luke's grandfather.

I also felt that Luke being pursued by an Inquisitor felt out of place. The whole idea of Luke wanting to leave Tatooine in the original movie is that nothing ever happened to him, that he wanted to have adventure in his life. He lived on a boring farm, with a boring Uncle and Aunt, yet now he had to flee from capture by a lightsaber weilding foe, and Owen and Beru are blaster-toting bad-asses. Yes, there are dangers on Tatooine, like Sandpeople, but this seemed like an extrodinary departure from the idea of Luke's banal existence.
