Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi (tv series)

I can respect that. Luke's story is front and center and the true heart of that movie. Everything else comes secondary to it in my mind and that perspective has never changed for me. I also love Temple of Doom. But hey, "I'm just a bitter old man", what do I know? Lol

Sorry for my derail too.

Maybe it’s just me learning to appreciate some things, warts and all, a little more as time passes. I’ve never much cared for Temple of Doom, for instance, and everyone crapped on Crystal Skull when it was released, but over the last year or two I’ve gained a better appreciation for both films. Well, in the case of Crystal Skull, more the second act before they get back to the hammy writing and CGI jungle, but still.

What do I know, though, I’m “jaded and cynical” and incapable of “just enjoying things”.

Anyway, sorry to derail the thread again. I’ll see myself out. ✌️
Like music, we can tend to go off a particular style... But give it time some distance and it feels fresh and new again..
Same with books, I re read novels I read in my teens and get different feelings and perspectives from them.

Welcome aboard! Graphics mean less than many people think if the game is still good.
Though I'm not going to lie the first DICE/EA Battlefront, looks gorgeous. They captured the ambience Original Trilogy like none other. But when it comes down to it, gameplay and story take precedent for me.
That said, one of the only scenarios that I would've been okay with Obi-wan leaving would've been a motivation to attempt to bring Anakin back to the light. That would've been way more compelling for me personally, and it wouldn't have made Bail look like a moron. Sadly the show didn't touch on that at all, which is truly bizarre to me. We wasted so much time with Reva and rescuing Leia multiple times (even though I liked the depiction of Leia) and not enough time on the Vader/Kenobi side of things.
Yes! Yes! Yes! I loved little Leia. And Obi-Wan talking about Padmé was touching. But having Obi-Wan leave and confront Anakin, to try and reach him, would have fulfilled that line in ROTJ, and been much more compelling.

It’s more that, consistently, they’re played for laughs, and their weapons (big giant AT-ST crushing logs aside) shouldn’t hardly scratch a person in a t-shirt, let alone “an entire legion of [the emperor’s] best men” who are all wearing armor. That segment of the movie just doesn’t have the same tension as Luke’s battle or the space battle, which makes it feel sillier than it actually is by comparison. All the same, watching it through this time I wasn’t as bothered by it. Maybe it’s knowing that there is (a lot of) far sillier and cheaper and more poorly-written Star Wars that came after it. Who knows.

As much as I love the Ewoks, Ewoks rule, I do wish they were a little lore militaristic. Like the Bow and Arrow shots should have been precise and showing them aiming and hitting the gaps in the armor. Dropping a boat load of rocks on Stormies, not just a few. More traps, etc.

They were awesome though.

Temple of Doom rocks. I am not exactly plugged into the pulse of anything as I don't give a rip, but do people not like Temple of Doom? It's the sequel to the greatest movie ever made and ever will be. If you don't agree of course you are wrong and things will never work out for you..

Anyway TOD rocked. It's the least of the three but that's still makes it more awesome than most anything else.

Odd little world.

We would save a lot of time and heartache if everyone would just agree with me.

I grew up loving Temple of Doom. It was only in the last few years that I learned that it was divisive. It really leans into the pulp adventures that inspired it and the fact that it took lots of risks are just two of the things I love most about it.

It’s the dead, unblinking, “crazy-eyes of a psychopath” that give Ewoks their unnerving status.

Ironically the pupil-less version we saw in the original cut of Jedi were far less creepy and the second George added those digital flesh colored eyelids, triple creepy! There's a meme of Wicket from the Ewoks films that's equally hilarious and disturbing but it's totally inapproprite to really share it here. lol

I know I've watched ROTJ a billion times because its my favorite Star Wars movie but for some reason i payed attention to this one tiny part that had me laughing hysterically.

When C3p0 is telling the Ewoks the story of their adventures, Leia leans in to Han to snuggle up to him...on the other side Wicket starts to snuggle up to Han as well, climbing up on his lap and the camera shows Han rolling his eye's...lol.
I don't know people are saying Harrison and Carrie had diminished acting...their facial expressions alone were awesome and made me laugh...check out Mark Hamill when they got captured and C3p0 is talking...I swear he broke character and started laughing and they just went with it...lol..right before Han tells C3p0, " well why don't you use your devine influence ..." The Ewoks really sort of lightened things up, setting you up for the more dramatic ending...then played Storm Troopers helmets like drums..classic
