Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi (tv series)

Disney Star Wars is garbage and I have yet to see a an explanation why Reva murdering potentially hundreds of Jedi to get to Vader make any sense at all. Anyone?
Not sure it makes sense, but in order to have a shot, she'd have to be the only one in the room with him. May not have happened until that point. Up to that point, you don't do it, you get killed and there goes your shot at revenge I suppose.

However, even on her own there never seemed to be a shred of remorse or trepidation or attempted avoidance. In the end she got close to offing Luke but to what end, I do not know. I don't think she knew they were anakin's kids just that obi wan was protecting him, so revenge on obi wan? They kinda muddied that waters at the end there.

We'll call it "Old Farts Who Loved LucasArts"
Can I be a 'young fart who loved LucasArts?' I was born in '93 so missed a lot of those. The early 2000s though.....*chef kiss*

I know that some people get really hung up on graphics and all. But I love going back and playing old games. Particularly if I've never played them before. If I have a few minutes to spare, I've been playing Dark Forces on my old PSP. (Though I have played that one through on my PC.)

I'm down for a 90's babies LucasArts fanclub!

While I disagree with many of my fellow haters of this series about certain premises such as:

There is nothing in canon to suggest Obi-Wan stayed on Tatooine for 20 years. In fact it would be kind of dumb as he could not literally watch Luke all the time.

There is in fact pure canon that Obi-Wan made some effort to save Anakin/Vader and bring him back. They missed a perfect chance in their final battle in the Obi-Wan series to tackle that.

Also, I gotta say, hate the series, but the battle between them was awesome. Too dark, yes. Boring setting, yes, but original in it was different and more rage filled. New and classic moves. I can't see how Nerdrotic and others can say it was the worst lightsaber duel ever. It was one of the best. Vader was pure rage and Obi-Wan was not a whipped, week punk. No clue how he got so strong after being so week. I also have to admit I got choked up at the end and my wife gets mad at me that I never cry.

Then they ruined it by him just walking away and allowing Vader to go on killing. Kind of makes it's Obi-Wan's true fault from here on out. Better he go in for the kill then something, troops shooting, fighter coming in, etc. forces him to leave.

I also like how after he has allowed this monster to go on he seems much happier now, and Qui-Gon shows up after it's all over. Thanks for the help bud.

I did not mind Leia. I thought she was great and the little actress was an awesome Leia. I just hate what they did with her, women always picking up the slack for dumb men, etc. A KK theme.

Anyway I thought of something that I don't know if it has been mentioned yet?

The message in ANH from Leia does not mean she never knew him. She is being formal, concerned someone else might see it. Also not the time to reminisce. This was made while Stormies were taking everyone out on the Blockade Runner.

What makes it clear that she never knew him is her reaction after he dies in ANH. Luke is more upset than she is. She really has no personal reaction. You really can't suggest she knows this man.

You can stretch it so they can meet and no each other based on the R2 message, but not based on her reaction after he dies in ANH. She clearly did not know him.

I know Lucasfilm does not care, but I do.

BTW the version of the final battle that was posted earlier is awesome. Forget the rest of the show. Just watch that. Better music and no cutting away to Reva trying to kill Luke for no reason, while running all over the galaxy after being impaled. What a fudging crap joke.

Peace.

I’m sorry, but having viewed enough of The Nerdrotic’s channel, over the past few years, I really throw that channel in with the larger “rage-based-content-for-clicks” camp that has become an unfortunate cottage industry on YouTube. It’s an industry that depends upon a “darkness reaching out for the darkness” mentality that is part of the unfortunate pettiness and actual pleasure derived from perceived failure of execution by some of the fan base.

Yes, there really are fans who get satisfaction from seeing things fail and seek out YouTube content on that basis…it’s like NASCAR fans who show up to an event hoping only to see a crash or two versus a perfect race for all the participants.

Other commentators, such as the gang at RLM, The Critical Drinker, or Robert Meyer Burnett, are the types of commentators that I really see as fair and objective (with great touches of humor) in their evaluations and I will pull up a chair and listen to them if they have an opinion to express.

In 1993 I was playing Rebel Assault, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, and Sam & Max. Fun times. I wish LucasArts was still around. We'll see how LucasFilm games does. Couldn't be worse than EA.

IMO EA is the worst for pay to win, graphics for their Battlefront looked good but I prefer the old Battlefront games.F... EA!

Not really sure I personally see RLM as very unbiased anymore…there were several great movies that came out in 2019 that they ignored entirely (Ford V. Ferrari or Le Mans ‘66 for our EU friends, Knives Out, Jojo Rabbit, 1917)…plus I think Picard melted Rich’ and Mike’s brains for them to not adequately address any real criticisms with Kenobi. Or maybe they feel like Star Wars is such a lost cause at this point that it’s not even worth caring about (which I feel dangerously close to understanding now). They’re always good for a laugh, though, and their Best of the Worst show is great.

I don't personally understand the love for RLM, but then, I don't have the time to watch long form critique shows. Every time I've seen someone post one of their videos I give it about a minute and they're bagging on whatever the thing is, so I don't stick it out. Granted, most of the time when I run across this its because another member has posted the video as part of their mounting dislike for whatever the thing was, so I don't run across whatever they do actually like. I dunno.

YouTube pushes so much negative content just because it knows the genres I like, and it really doesn't understand that I'm not there to see folks tear stuff down, I'm constantly telling it I'm not interested in those videos but I think all it takes from that is a preference against whichever channel posted the video, rather than the negative content in the video.

Watch their re:Views if you’re looking for stuff of theirs that focuses more on what they like. They just put out a fantastic one on Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Of course, it’s still long-form, so that might put you off.
