Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi (tv series)

Potentially out first look at Obi-Wan's saber, comes from Hasbro's Lightsaber Forge line. I'm trying to find a better picture.

It's hard to say if this saber leans more ROTS or more ANH. The box art seems to based on some ROTS promotional shots, but with his costume updated. So there the saber is clearly ROTS version.

Totally! Liam Neeson was a highlight for sure along with Christopher Lee. Ian McDiarmid clearly enjoyed himself, just chewing those lines, especially in ROTS, Lol!
I think from reading about it in one of those SW poster magazines back in 77 I really just wanted to see Vader fall into the then Volcano..
There aren't many child actors who can pull off a role convincingly...
If they had gone a touch older TPM could have been so much more..

Imagine a teenage Anakin sassy troublesome, heading down the wrong side of the tracks cruising his way on stolen speeder bikes/Landspeeders
Until he meets a kind old sage who tells him about the bigger picture like Omar Sheriff did to Lawrence.
Rebel without a cause mixed with Lawrence of Arabia!

Yeah Hayden isn’t such a bad actor but minimally, if he wasn’t miscast for this role, I think he needed more from a director than what George could provide.

I always felt like TPM should’ve started later in the timeline than it did. Already have an older Anakin and Obi-wan together, with more opportunity to show their friendship before things go south.

It would have made a much more rewarding trilogy and even more angst tug of emotions...
In the movies they were Actually hardly together..obviously the cartoons showed more but and this keeps rearing its head a movie shouldn't have to rely on knowing about novels other media to be appreciated..
As you said an older Anakin no Little Ani..

Exactly! They tried to show what buddies they were in ROTS, with all the little cheesy jokes and quips, but it was too little too late. Overall in the PT, they never seemed to like each other. ROTS had a rushed feel to it and I think it was in part because most of the first movie was wasted time. So much of what was in it we didn’t actually need.

With a slower buildup and against the backdrop of The Clone Wars, which maybe was already raging, maybe Anakin is too arrogant in his abilities, and there starts being clues and rumblings that he’s going a little too far. People are turning up dead. There begin to be signs he’s abusing his abilities. He’s dabbling with the darker side of things to try to be a “better” Jedi. He thinks he can control it but the allure is too delicious. Forget all the sappy mommy issues, etc.

I would’ve had Anakin’s final fall to the darkside be at the end of Ep.2 or first act of 3, with the remainder being Obi-wan trying to track him down and actually make an effort to save him. As it is, Obi-wan is basically like “welp, you gotta die!”

Maybe Obi-wan expresses his concerns to General Organa, whom he serves with (and is only a senator later, after military retirement) and he has a bigger role to play too. If they wanted to explore a broader intrigue, maybe they also have misgivings about General Tarkin, a favorite of the chancellor? Perhaps also include Owen Lars (maybe as a grumpy, gruff but lovable Republic pilot, etc?) as part of our core group too. Anakin, Obi-wan, Padme and Owen could’ve been our PT heroes. At the end it would feel more natural that Owen agrees to take Luke to his wife on his distant home planet of Tatooine and Organa agrees to take Leia and quietly host a terminally ill Padme, who will die a few years after the kids were born.

Well I’m rambling now…lol!

I like that idea though..makes much more sense imagine if in AOTC Whilst they were Winning Anakin said he'd had enough cut down the Jedi and escaped with a still quite Alive Doku who then completed Anakins training as a Grey Jedi..Doku after all was actually on to Sideous and would have been nice to see more of him trying to fight the cause..if I remembered that right of course ?

Yeah, I def think they should’ve had either Dooku OR Maul, not both. Just take your pick. They were both neat in totally different ways.
I guess Christopher Lee was heavily tied up with LOTRs which might have influenced screentime.. but I'd have loved a meatier roll..
"Old men in robes don't sell toys"

I remember their were rows and rows of Obiwan figures in toy shops back in 78..

Yeah he def wasn’t as marketable! Dooku was a farrrr more interesting character than Maul but Maul looked so darn cool! Wish George had given him a better name than “Dooku” though. I mean, seriously? Lol

More from the writer as well. You went from going off on who killed your mother (i mean, who wouldn't?), to being whiny about not getting what you deserve, straight to 'ok, i'll kill a bunch of elementary and pre-schoolers to maybe save my wife'. Just way to fast and unbelievable. And there wasn't really a descent, just falling off a cliff, and not just any cliff, but like that 5 mile deep canyon on mars type of cliff.

He did have a cooler name, Darth Tyranus :D
I wish he had only been known as that! Maul’s “real” name was never used, at least not in the movies. Weird that he was still called Maul after his miraculous return.

Exactly! It was like a switch was flipped and he was suddenly evil, which I always thought was stupid.
