Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi (tv series)

You're out of your mind.

Star Wars being secretive has nothing to do with Disney. It goes all the way back to Lucas keeping designs close to the vest to avoid people ripping them off.

They've been using fake lines on set since at least Empire. Had code-named production titles since at least Return of the Jedi; meaning EVERY person working that shoot had to keep quiet about working on the project, are they untrustworthy people now?

Other movies regularly hide cast members being involved with a film to help maintain secrecy about plot points, spoilers, or tie ins. And that's even after the movie is announced.

Video game developers try to get half way through making their games before they even announce they're working on them.

And EVERY business on the planet chooses when and how it releases information about products it's developing (and a lot of development leads nowhere, and they NEVER announce they were working on something at all). That's no different from Disney, or ANY other production company not announcing that they're looking in to making a certain movie or TV show until they're in a position to make the most of it. It's standard practice.

Professional prop makers on THIS forum are legally bound to not talk about tons of projects they're working on, because it would give away information about movies and shows in development that aren't ready to be announced. Are they all terrible liars in your book?

Get your head straight man. I get that that you hate Disney, but damn.
All of which is why we must consider his latest response may also be a lie, which is all anyone is saying.

He also said in the same interview that the scripts are great. He is not at fault in this situation, this is what happens when you make an actor do the damage control instead of the taking responsibility and going in to hiding again Kathy.

This is not on McGregor, this is on KK. Last August at D23 she announced with McGregor at her side "The scripts are done" and "They are great". So why now five months later, she's not happy with them and fires the writer? From day one of her in charge there has been drama. The common denominator is her. She's been a great producer but a horrible studio head.

I read a statement somewhere that it wasn't dissatisfaction with the scripts, it was the realization that they were treading similar ground to Mandelorian. (Protecting Luke vs. protecting Child). I can see where they might think they need to step back and reevaluate.

And they are just realizing that now? All that says to me is that Kennedy's only involvement with The Mandalorian was to show up with George Lucas on the set and get some some publicity pictures taken with George holding the coffee she made him.

All this was foretold!

When you see Solo 2.0 being played out minus the 80% of already produced footage, there is every cause to complain and be doubtful that they are capable of producing something good.

I think there's something else going on here altogether. I cannot buy for one second that the scripts are great and we are ready to go last year and then all of a sudden push that there's something wrong with the story. That would suggest that the story didnt reveal itself in the scripts. Are people actually buying that?

I don't know why they'd even be similar. Unless the Empire comes, there's not a lot he has to protect Luke from other than Sandpeople. I think the Kenobi book did a good job of showing how he was performing his role as protector. I don't want to watch Obi-Wan protecting little Luke from the threat of the week every week!

I'd have to agree. When the announcement was made, Mando was pretty much done. They knew 100% exactly what it was and they knew it probably a year prior to 'the scripts are done/excellent/whatever'.

From everything I've heard, the Obi-Wan series isn't going to be so much a "threat of the week" action based series as it's going to be a personal drama dealing with Obi-Wan's post-war PTSD, and the guilt he feels over Anakin/the fall of the Jedi Order.

That would work and is a MUCH better idea than anything having to do with saving/protecting Luke or the "Tatooine citizen of the week in need of saving" which seemed likely the only direction it could go in. It would also explain narrowing down the run to 4-6 episodes for the entire series verses a classic multiple series show.

Now if only McGregor would walk back his idiot comments and take his foot out of his mouth and head out of his ass for his "Birds of Prey" comments, I might get interested in this if it ever goes anywhere further in production.
