Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi (tv series)

I’m not sure if anyone else caught this, but it’s bound to come up for discussion, sometime. It hit me immediately upon viewing the trailer.

The way they portray the dirt of Tatooine is not accurate.

The aggregated material of Tatooine, or “dirt” as one may call it, has never been portrayed like this in any on-screen representation before.

It’s the wrong color (think “sand color”)…it’s the wrong texture (think “sandstone texture”)…and the aggregate is the wrong size (think “desert pebble size”).

Could this be a new variant of Tatooine dirt that we have not seen before?

Other than this issue, the trailer made it look like a show worth checking out.

I normally don't try to die on these hills, but between what we saw in Book of Boba Fett, The Mandalorian Season 2, and even the trailer for this, I've gotta stand my ground... This is just Lazy filmmaking

We can sit here and talk about StarWars all day long.. our favorite parts of it... Be it the OT or be it the PT... Sure we might not agree on everything in terms of what they did, what they show, and how they were executed, especially in regards to the PT...
But there is one thing I will argue that I think we should all be able to agree upon.

The OT and the PT are a lot of things, some timeless and memorable, some flawed and sorta silly, but there was one thing that they really never were.. and that was Lazy (ROTJ's piss poor editing aside)

Disney StarWars, is simply unbelievably ******* Lazy, and they should be called on it.
I agree with the Disney criticism, and understand your point about laziness. But to me, that laziness you perceive is a byproduct of the lack of talent and unifying vision in writing, casting, acting, and most of all; directing.

No complaints about the folks at ILM, specifically with the tech and talent behind StageCraft. But (so far) it sure feels like most SW shows are the result of talentless committees and focus groups from another planet. I'm still seeing a therapist because of those...Space Vespas...

I believe we'll see improvements as things progress. I believe there's talent out there, fans of the franchise, looking at these shows, thinking they can do a whole lot better - and they're probably right. These things need to grow, the same way Marvel movies did. This is not Roger Corman's Fantastic Four, but this new SW era needs growth and maturity, which clearly isn't here yet.

I see the Inquisitor had the spinning blade

I seriously hope they do not do the light saber helicopter thing from Rebels.
With those Disco Vespas in mind I see your hopes crushed. Someone would say, hey, that was cool in the animated series, now we can do it "for real".

The best part of the project is that they assembled the old cast from ROTS again. That's what I'm excited to see the most. Everything else must be seen in May. So far my wallet is at ease because there is nothing I would want as a figure yet. ;)

They will surely tell the story how Luke got that T-16 toy for his 10th birthday. Maybe this one will be from Kenner now. :D

I have to say I'm kind of excited for this. I don't have any faith in Disney not screwing up the canon though. I also noticed they show Obi-Wan off planet, unless Tatooine has a wannabe Coruscant area, so...

Oh man... Yeah they really missed the mark on that one. He looks like Dr. Evil meets Death (of Bill and Ted fame). Animated artistic license aside, he was clearly meant to be thin and gaunt and they literally chose an actor that looks the total opposite, with a full, round, squat head. Just not flattering at all. All they needed to do is use Tion Medon as a template and go from there.

That's true. He doesn't really even look like a Pau'an. I think the black lips don't help either. With his looks so goofed up, we can only hope his characterization is spot on. If he's at least well acted, I feel we'll be more willing to accept how off he looks.

He is a good actor so hopefully his part is written well- he’s in Homeland. The thing is, his facial structure looks like he would be a great Grand Inquisitor if done correctly.

Oh wow! No joke! He actually looks like he'd be a visually good pick. Did they really just screw up the makeup and applications then? Maybe the footage just wasn't a flattering showcase? I would've never guessed that guy is the same one we see above!

I forgot he was also in this (not a great movie) but the picture confirms that they had the clay but didn’t mold it properly.
