Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi (tv series)

If consumers aren't buying a particular product, no matter what it is, it doesn't make sense to continue to produce it in high volume. That's all I mean't.

I love the fact that they made minor characters. When I used to collect figures (in the long long ago) I had every single character in almost every single outfit that was available. Some of my favorite figures were those who were on screen for seconds.
Same.. Although they aren't screen accurate I love my OG Cantina figures like Walrus man and Snaggletooth(short n red) and Hammerhead oh and Spandex Greedo..
The first playset I made was The Cantina, out of wood screws and bent nails..
Back then not a lot really existed to play with so like many others we made our own. I converted my Actionman/GI Joe tank into an Empire shuttle..
I remember the bins in ToysRus full of discounted SWs toys late 90s at crazy knockdown prices and they still didn't sell..

Well I finally got to watch the first three Episodes with my son and I do have to say its not always..What but who you watch your content with.
Be it a shared history of watching them together at the Cinema or a shared love of SW and those memories of his first experience with Obi-Wan but we really enjoyed it together.
Yeah he noticed the "slow chases" and often "Wait to be hit" action scenes but looked passed that..
Damn he used to get through loads of Plastic sabres as a kid but I kept them All in a box!

I think I would rather watch another season of Kenobi over say Andor.. I didn't really engage much with his character in Rogue One.
I can forgive the small issues when it's a Legacy character actually it's not so much issues it's like wanting a PS5 for Christmas and getting a PS4.. But that's a personal choice.

I can't wait to watch the last three with him..

Edit: Added a few lines..

So about this Kai Patterson Films fan edit... google'fu don't fail me now.
I got about 40 mins in and apart from the vintage recap and the Alien doing a Amidala switcheroo I didn't notice much change.. I need to watch more I'm guessing?

He cut out a lot of the fluff, and it is certainly better for it. The young Jedi on Tatooine immediately gets decapitated, so the only interaction with Obi-wan is seeing the headless body strung up. Leia was captured immediately, bagged over the head, rather than the silly chase scene. Reva does not survive her confrontation with Vader, so her trip back to take out Luke is gone.

The first Vader/Kenobi duel ends with new dialogue between one of the stormtroopers and Vader, with the trooper asking if they should pursue, and Vader saying "not just yet". The second fight does not cut back and forth to Reva going after Luke, since she's dead in this version.

One of the big differences is the music. Most notably, the second Vader/Kenobi fight starts out with Duel of the Fates, and finishes with the ROTS Mustafar fight music.

There were numerous smaller edits and changes, and it all worked for me. Obi-wan hears more voices and there is more flashback imagery leading up to his burst of power to free himself when buried under the rocks. I got emotional all over again during that last confrontation, in ways that rewatching the original cut was not getting me again. At the moment that Obi-wan walks away, we now here Qui-gon's last words again, about Anakin being the chosen one, who will bring balance to the Force.

I didn't notice the headless body of the Jedi?

Yep. Reva decapitates him, rather than burns his shoulder with her lightsaber, but you only see the saber FX edit. That part was very quick, and somewhat awkward, because there wasn't much to work with there. They digitally altered the shot with the hanging body to be clearly decapitated, however, with a cauterized neck stump. It was a bit like the cantina scene in ANH, where you see the lightsaber swing, and then the severed arm on the floor after, but don't clearly see the actual severing, so it worked well enough for me.

Nice!.. When I find a quiet moment I'll catch it.

Im finding some of the cuts on this fan edit a bit jarring. Youll go from a scene on Tatooine directly to people talking on Alderaan with no breathing room or establishing shot. I like that the pace is better, but he needed to use some more transitions or something.

Those Flash gordon Phase transitions also used in TPM would help and be a cool nod..

So, just to let you guys know, the Haslab's Reva lightsaber funding has closed. It hasn't made it's funding.

well yeah it was 500 dollars for hasbro electronics in a plastic chassis. hardly surprising
It seems kinda strange, though. It was reported that the show was "a massive hit" that apparently did better than The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. I guess it was barely a hit in comparison to those shows.

HasLabs has never been able to fund a Star Wars project. They couldn't get the Rancor off the ground, do you think that reflects on Return of the Jedi? Black Series collectors just aren't going to spend the kinda money Hasbro is demanding for SW HasLabs.

I'm pretty sure they were able to get the Razor Crest funded. I think that kinda negates the "Haslab has never been able to fund a Star Wars project" argument. But, it's beside the fact that the Reva lightsaber bombed, and apparently bombed pretty hard. Whether it's a sign of the company overestimating the value due to materials, or a sign of something else, that's neither here nor thereat this point, I suppose.

The SUCCESSFULLY funded the very first HasLab project, Jabba's Sail Barge, AND the Razor Crest. The issues with the Rancor had more to do with the way the campaign was run, & with the Reva saber, any person that did any research at all would've seen what $500+ would've bought from the custom saber community.
